I have recently acquired a 44 caliber 6 shot percussion revolver cylinder that looks exactly like the Colt model 1860 Army revolver cylinder. It is a rebated cylinder with no engraving.
How ever it is for a solid frame revolver as it the hole through the centre of the cylinder is compatible with the Remington 1858 "New Army" and not the larger colt cylinder pin/barrel wedge system. This cylinder has no roll engraving but is plain.

So what I have is a .44 cylinder that looks like it should be from an 1860 Colt Army but the cylinder pin hole is the same diameter as a Remington 1858.
The front part of the cylinder pin hole has a bushing - the back part is surrounded by the ratchet plate that is 9/16" in diameter.
The number " 430 " is stamped on a boss between the nipples on the very back face of the cylinder.

Any ideas of what this cylinder will fit?

Is it of modern manufacture or antique???
Some pictures would help identify your cylinder.
I have a Pietta 1851 .44 "Yank" which I could compare with if you post some pictures.

No flutes on the cylinder and it has the small cylinder pin that does not allow it to fit a colt open top revolver.
This cylinder will loosely fit into the 1858 Remington new army but the detent for the locking pawl is on the rebated part of the cylinder and the ratchet is different.
There is no way that this cylinder could or would fit an open top colt - even though it has a similar outward appearance to a 1860 colt army cylinder.
A photo would be meaningless as it does look like the 1860 army cylinder without the engraving - no flutes either - other than the small cylinder pin.

okay Original measurements 1858 Remington 44 cal and Colt 1860 Army 44 cal.
Outside max dia 1858 Rem 1.161" 1860 Colt 1.160 '
Max length 1858 Rem 2.001" 1860 Colt 1.956"
Cylinder stop ratchet dia 1858 Rem 1.010 1860 Colt .682"
Pin hole dia 1858 Rem .266 1860 Colt .430
Good luck. There are dozens of BP models made. And of course modern crappy Italian knock offs of the originals too. Sometimes one does have to use a repro part to get an original collectable working.
