I have recently acquired a 44 caliber 6 shot percussion revolver cylinder that looks exactly like the Colt model 1860 Army revolver cylinder. It is a rebated cylinder with no engraving.
How ever it is for a solid frame revolver as it the hole through the centre of the cylinder is compatible with the Remington 1858 "New Army" and not the larger colt cylinder pin/barrel wedge system. This cylinder has no roll engraving but is plain.
So what I have is a .44 cylinder that looks like it should be from an 1860 Colt Army but the cylinder pin hole is the same diameter as a Remington 1858.
The front part of the cylinder pin hole has a bushing - the back part is surrounded by the ratchet plate that is 9/16" in diameter.
The number " 430 " is stamped on a boss between the nipples on the very back face of the cylinder.
Any ideas of what this cylinder will fit?
