Back From Namibia (pic heavy)

I'm always amazed at how different and beautiful african animals are. Not to say north american animals aren't beautiful too, but I guess it's just because I'm not used to these ones.

Hunting with Jack Russel's??? didn't know they were good for the big stuff;)

looks like an amazing hunt, some beautiful trophies.can such hunts still be had at reasonable prices?

I wouldn't have been there if you couldn't....lol

African hunts are still an amazing bargain and the level of service is unmatched.

They don't actually use them for hunting but for following wounded game. They are amazing once they get on a blood trail. They love getting their photo taken as well and jumped in every picture whether we used them or not....lol

Sounds like a great trip! I especially like Vanessa's warthog. When a trophy has something distinct about it, like that warthog's broken tusk, or my partner's buff with the broken horn, I think that makes an exceptional trophy.

Get busy and start writting us a detailed account of your adventure.

Ya, I agree Boomer, that broken tusk adds real character. She made an awesome shot on that fellow too....taking him right between the eyes. In the long grass, it was the only shot she had. The skull will make an awesome addition to our memories of Namibia.

Sheephunter, AWESOME pics ... how can I get my hands on a rack like this? What is this animal?

It's a kudu. It and the gemsbok are the two plains game animals that rated highest on my list. Vanessa tagged out first with this incredible 50" beauty and I had to wait until the very last afternoon to score on a kudu. Just be warned that there is a tradition of eating raw liver after the kill!

Excellent pic's - Looks like you had a great trip.

So, have you got your return trip in the works already?:)

Ya, Boet just secured a new buff/elephant area in the Caprivi that hasn't been hunted for 10 years so I'm trying to figure out how to get back there this fall for buff. We'll see how generous the bank is feeling......

Looks like you both had an excellent time! Great selection of trophys . Nice that you donated some meat to the local people. The rifles that you took obviously worked fine. Thanks for sharing the pics.

Ya, actually all of the meat except what we ate in camp went to the local people. So too does much of the money from trophy fees and the licence we bought to hunt in the conservancy and our outfitter pays a hefty fee to the conservancy for the right to hunt there as well. It's the only source of income and protein for many of these people.

Very nice pic's thanks for sharing and good on you for helping out the school!!

We took the school supplies over through SCI's blue bag program and it was very simple to do and makes such a difference in the lives of these kids. The teacher said it was more supplies than they'd had in the past 50 years.
