Generally I have 12 in my ammo wallet on my belot and 3-4 in the rifle.

OK....I give up, WTF is a belot??? :D:D:D:D:D

Never mind, I got it, the "o's" right above "l" .........sausage fingers :bangHead:.

Nice setup Davey. You have some pretty high end gear.

what temp do you use that gear in? I am probably a wuss, but I prefer the sleeping bag to be heavier. Also why my setup doesn't coem in at 45 lbs. lol

Also, what stock do you have on your rifle? Is it just the angle, or did you find a folder that works?

I don't see much by way of attachments on the pack, when you are packing game out, do you put it inside, and leave the top off for air?

Also, what do you do for water? boil and go?(hopefully not literally lol)

I also bring paracord. enough to make an a-frame, or even to wrap around the antlers for a 2 man pull.

-My sleeping bag is rated to -30 and I have used it to just about that.
-Rifle stock is just a regular synthetic stock.
-I can also attach lots to the outside of my pack, it is an external frame so no issues there.
-Depending on the situation, usually meat will be in game bags inside the pack.
-Up high, water is usually good to drink on the spot. If I am concerned at all I will add iodine tablets just to be safe. The rest of the time we just boil it.
-I also carry para cord for use in all situations.

The safest a lightest way to kill bad things in your water is bleach. It takes very little, about 1 drop per litre. Let it sit, or pour it back and forth between cups and the taste is gone. Had beaver fever once, don't want it again.

Great tip! Like you said, it is good to let it sit once the bleach is added. 30 minutes is about the amount of time one should wait before drinking bleach treated water. This will allow time for the bleach to do its work.

Remember, sodium hypochlorite(bleach) will only last so long. For maximum effectiveness, use a new vial of bleach every few months.

Once again, great tip!

Just got back from spending some money on a new early-season-solo setup.

Western mountaineering makes great bags, I still wish I had my old down WM bag. Integral Designs makes great products as well, I have used many of thier products over the years.

I myself don't have much use for a bivi sack anymore though, it just plain sucks staying in one in the high country with not much cover in foul weather, all though I have done it many times.

Great early season gear BBB, sure will make a nice set up for solo packin!

This is actually a big step up for me, protection-wise. I've just been using that siltarp, plus a nylon footprint for the past couple of years. Super light, but I've been snowed on too many times now to go that way again.

Just got back from scouting out the zone where we got our non-trophy draw. Fifteen ewes and lambs, and they're only 10 kms and 1200 verticle metres from the car.

I was planning on calling myself lucky if I could find some at 20 km.

Bivi sack and bag stood up to the rain pretty good though, though it never got all that cold.
