Backpackers now in stock

Any chance you'll be stocking 16ga ammo in the near future to feed these 30" versions? None of the places around where I live carry 16ga

Just be warned guys, if you were hoping to hide these from your wives or if you live in downtown Toronto.

My shipment of 3 came unpackaged cardboard boxes with the big words "JW SHOTGUN" and a giant bullseye with a shotgun logo a few inches away from the shipping sticker with my name and address on it.

I contacted CanAm, and their customer service rep said they have a few new folks in their shipping department.

I don't think it merits a roast and they were quite polite about it - but still, a small faux pas probably due to some newbies in their shipping department.

I'll post a review after I crack them open tomorrow morning (or tonight) when my kid are sleeping.

I still love CanAm - and am looking forward to my discreetly packaged fourth one :)

Not a chance. I have received many orders from canam, mainly grizzlys in the standard box. Product ID clearly shown, serial number etc. Just brutal. My mini mauser from them was the same. Being in Ontario, I am most certainly concerned about a possible break in as anybody who saw these packages knows my address and that I have guns. I fully expect this post to be deleted but hey whatever it does not change the facts.

Yeah the delivery guy was like. "got your shotgun and ammo here!"

Good thing I don't buy my ### #### from canam lol

So what kind of stock fits? Rem 870?

I'm pretty sure it's not 870 compatible.... though I've never thought to try!
Maybe an H&R or something similar could be made to work?

So I went out and fired a couple rounds of 3" bird today and on the second round the fore-end blew off in my left hand and it would no longer latch into place with any feeling of security. I noticed that the gap at the rear of the wood seemed a bit enlarged. Anyway, long story boring, you might want to tighten up the screws on the inside of the grip before you go out blasting. It is a bit of a game to find the right position where your grip will secure in properly. Closing that gap up completely makes it impossible for me to secure the lever to lock the foregrip on.

Oh yeah, one more thing. With a round chambered the extractor jams up making it really difficult to crack the barrel. So make that first shot count.

Oh well, at least it can blow a large propane tank off of a stump! Cue the banjo!

Got my shotgun this Wednesday as well, it shipped pretty much the same as other person describe but mine has been cut open and take a peek inside since only one side of tape still holding the box close, it's like someone at Canpar curious what inside. More or less, everything are in box plus their free target and print receipt.

At the afternoon, I drop by at the local, bought up all their 2-2/3" slug about 200 rounds then head to the range. The fun part start that time, all old timer at the range told me it's prohibited since the barrel is shorter than 18 inch and blah blah then demands to see my registration ( well, I live in Quebec ) still I manage to load a slug and fire off then it can't break open to, it's kinda stuck there.

Final inspect, the two screws under the handguard are losing, thread lock them both and will report back.

Seems hit and miss.
A bit of thin foam tape in the barrel channel of the forend stopped mine from popping loose.

Got my backpacker yesterday about a month from order to the post office.NOT packed very well as it was in origional box with [ hey look at me I am a shotgun please steal me stickers in plain sight ] NOT IMPRESSED there boys! Also had minium tape on box.On the plus side they threw in some paper targets and a funky ar-15 mini pen.THEY NEED TO GET A ROLL OF THAT PAPER THE BUTCHER USES TO WRAP MEAT IN TO SHIP WEAPONS AS IT IS QUITE WATERPROOF AND HEAVY DUTY ! Gonna check her out this weekend and locktite some screws etc. I am moderately pleased.

I cut 1 1/2" off the butt stock - o/a length is now 27 3/8" with the stock recoiled pad, I will be finding a new recoil pad to fit asap. LOP feels just right now.
I cut the fore stock at a 30 degree angle for 2 reasons, first it made it easier to install the front fiberoptic sight and second I like having a tactile warning that my hand is getting close to the end of the barrel.

Nice work Tom E,
Have you had a chance to try it with the truglow? It looks a bit higher then the post it came with but maybe not quite hi enough....how does it attach?
Perhaps you can shim it up a bit if needed.
