my question's are,

1. are they worth the $600?

2. what one is better the 155, or the 153 or are they both the same?

3. will they cycle the target loads from walmart/ canadian tire?

4. are they reliable?

5. and would you recommend one.

thanks for your help.
have a fun and safe thanks giving
Rob.

Hi Rob,

I have had no experience with 155 but assume it is a further development of 153. The 153 is mechanically undestroyable. It cycles everything, in any weather from -25C to +30C, and will serve you lifelong. Plastic or walnut stock is a matter of personal taste, but plastic is maintenance free.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Pavel

If your wanting to find a cheaper semi auto look at some of the Turkish made shotguns , Corwin arms has the warriors for $520 and they come with 18.5" and 26" barrels. Baikal is a good gun but there are better deals out there for sure

OK thanks for the information, I only heard about then yesterday and figured I'd do some reaserch on them.
As for the Turkish stuff I'm not a fan. Russia has been making firearms for ever that's a ++ for me in my books. But that's just my opinion I'm not saying the Turkish stuff isn't good.

Turkey has also been making shotguns forever and a day. The "Warrior" shotguns are out of the same factory that makes the Weatherby SA-08, and many (but not all) of the parts are interchangeable.

As somebody who has been shooting Baikal products for the last 14 years, I will vouch for them over the Turkish ones. Neither are pretty, but the Baikal is both durable and functional.

A buddy had a Turkish Over and Under and it just fell apart.

I have a 153 and it's awesome. It just keeps going. 7/8 oz skeet loads to 2oz goose loads. It eats them all. I have a turkish made ou. It's a piece of ####. No saying all turkish guns are but stay away from anything khan

153=tank Great gun after its broken in. Read the instructions and you have a great hunting gun that will handle its self well at the skeet club or shooting 3.5 black clouds at geese.

Does anybody know anything about how the warrior gas system runs? Will it cycle target loads? is it a copy of anything? i.e 11-87

Word on the street (unconfirmed) is that these shotguns are the same as Weatherby brand shotguns.

I have used the MP-153 for ten seasons now. Never had an issue with it.
I bought the newer MP-155 last year and am equally pleased.

The 155 is the replacement for the 153. I believe production of the older 153 has stopped or will shortly stop.

The 155 has kept all the good qualities of the 153 : Very tough, durable and reliable at an affordable price.
The improvements over the older model are: Almost 0.5 kg (1 lb) lighter, magazine cut-off feature added and a more ergonomic stock. The top part of the receiver has grooves and is ready to take a scope or other optics.

Strongly recommend it. It is available in wood, black polymer and camo versions.

Hi Tozman,

Sorry for bring this old thread up.

Since you have both the 153 and 155 do you mind to measure the recoil spring (the main spring over the mag tube) because I am looking for a replacement spring for the 153 and its been discontinued and would like to know if the spring are interchangeable.

Thank you in advance!

Dont know much about the MP-153, I have a camo MP-155. I purchased it 2 years ago for hunting waterfowl. I paid 650.00 at Sail, no tax sale. It did the job i wanted it to do, kill some ducks and geese. I took it out to trap shoot recently, hoping it would have no issues as its plenty broken in after 2 years hunting with 3 1/2" 2 shot and BB. Even after adjusting the spring it didn't cycle a single 2 3/4" trap load. I found occasionally when firing i could feel stuff hitting my face when the shell ejected. first year I had a big problem ejecting my live rounds when the night was done. Bolt action wouldnt come back unless i bumped it against the ground while pulling back on the action. Felt very sketchey. During last season I found it to be much better in that aspect. During one hunting night I had a shell jam between the transition of leaving the mag and into the reciever to be placed in barrel. I had to remove the trigger mechanisim in the field and some how the "follower" fell out and I was not able to find it. Part #14 in the manual. I contacted Baikal Canada in Toronto (im in Ottawa) and they were compleatly useless. The told me send an email from their website, there poor, cheaply put together website that looks like 6 year old put together. The only email contact goes to no body in pitcicular and I never heard a response. Being a uncommon cheap Russian gun, finding that part was almost impossible. I had to go through hell and high water, went months without a functioning gun. My father managed to find the part from someone in the Navy in Nova Scotia. My dad decided to help and also looked high and low all over, found this guy, and this man was nice enough to look high and low (took about 2 months) and he found it. Gave it to my dad no charge and he sent it to me. Its back in working order and did ok during last hunting season.

Good things: light weight, feels good in the grip, good sized safety, Over all not super happy with it.

Just bought Beretta Xtrema 350, camo for next hunting season a couple days ago, havent shot it yet but really looking forward to it. Have a lot more trust and faith in the new shotty
