Does anyone know the CUP pressure on this ammunition. It's 400 grain 45/70 Barne Pioneer. Wanting to shoot it in Pederosoli rolling block rifle which can handle up to 29000 CUP. Thanks

Guessing that ammo should comply with industry standard SAAMI/ANSI Z229.4-2015 spec's for use in modern .45-70 firearms, 28,000 psi?? Doesn't appear to be pressure rated in the manufacturer's literature for that product. Barnes customer support should know.

Don't guessing.⚠️

See Barnes pdf download: https://www.barnesbullets.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Web-PDF-6.7.23.pdf- †† WARNING:

FULL PRESSURE LOAD. NOT FOR USE IN ALL 45-70 RIFLES. INJURY OR DEATH MAY RESULT FROM USE IN FIREARMS NOT DESIGNATED FOR MODERN SAAMI PRESSURE FOR THIS CARTRIDGE (e.g. TRAPDOOR RIFLES)

In the same spot have a single shot rifle says 29000on it also . Seems that loads for a 1895 Marlin are the same according to manuals for reloading.

thanks for the reply looking on that link it looks like the warning re trapdoors is only attached to the tax 300 grain not the 400 grain hollow point that I have? The rifle in question is a rolling block which is a bit stronger than the trapdoor action.

I contacted Petrosoli in Italy and they responded very quickly. Say the Barnes Pioneer is below the 29000 psi and is perfectly fine in their rolling blocks. actual response
Dear Mr. Bruce,

In Europe we follow the rules set by the C.I.P (similar to SAAMI) which forecasts the limit pressure of 31908 P.S.I. for the .45-70 caliber.
The ammo you chose is perfectly within those parameters.
