Barrenland Grizzly ...

Yeah I'll be taking my 700 and M14 and possibly my M1 Garand. HAHA. After catching a beluga whale a few yrs ago with a harpoon ... I WANT to spear everything ... seroiusly! HAHAHA.

The fog just makes things more interesting. Think of how fun it would be to spear a bear in the fog where you can only hear him coming at you.... :D :p

I think the difference might be location and diet as far as why some guys eat them and some guys don't. Whether it's black bear or grizzly, a bear shot in the mountains eating sprouts and berries will taste different than one on the coast eating spawners off the beach. What are your bears eating?
I'd say anything 30-06 and up with a premium bullet and most importantly good shot placement.

Exactly! I have eaten a lot of bear meat, and it is delicious, including meat from two different grizzlies.

The first grizzly I shot, we ate the entire bear because we were able to bring the meat out quite easily. The other was from a bear that I had guided a hunter on. That bear was flown out of the bush, because the meat sampled in camp was so good.

Have never taken a salmon bear, but no doubt it would be different.

Fog this morning ... fog while I was out all day ... fog tonite ... oh well if there is one around I'm sure it'll be spotted again or others.

Barren ground grizzlies are the smallest of the species, so you don't need a mega-magnum to kill one; your .308 is as good as anything, but you knew that. IMHO, no bear that's been eating seals, sea weed, or scavenging dead whales is fit to eat, although that's a personal prejudice. Hope the fog clears for you soon, we've been clear here.

HAHA yeah I know Boomer ... apparently 3 have been spotted now ... all wee fuggers ... wonder if it's worth it to go find and shoooost one?! I wo'nt be eating if I do catch one. :D

I leave grizzly meat in the bush to feed anything that wants it I would also leave any black bear meat in the bush as well but it is now not legal to leave it.

No desire to risk trichinellosis...

I've shot and eaten a lot of bears over the years but never grizzly bears. Some black bears taste better than others for whatever reason. I always feel kind of like I'm eating human flesh and that kind of turns me off. (I know, gross!)

A mother and two cubs was seen yesterday and a lone grizz approx 7 footer ... looks like I need to go on a tour this coming weekend ... :D
