Battle Rifle Postal Match

Sweet, love the link to the targets. I will be taking out the M305 on Monday and trying my hand at it. I will post pics when I am done...unless it is reeeaaallly embarrassing.

I posted the reeeaaallly embarrassing one. What, are you too good for us lousy shots?

:pirate:

Boy did I pick a bad day to shoot... Nothing but fog and rain. The fog made the shoot very challenging (it's actually clouds to be more precise, as my range is on a mountain), 100 yard board's the 4th one, pictured during a lightening of the haze.

Shot a 10/20 with my iron sighted M14S and Norc ball.

Ardent: Sweet photographs and good shooting! I especially love the use of that shooting bench as a dry seat...:)

Scores and stats are being entered into my spreadsheet: I'll post them the first week of october or something like that. I took a day off work to spend with my wife as it was our wedding anniversary. She suggested we go out shooting so we test drove the November match...photos to follow shortly!

have at 'er with your elbows on your knees!

For real? Dammit I did my shooosting with my legs crossed and NO support on my arms ... I'm gonna re-shooost this weekend and send you my results. I did it with a 303 British and my Sig Arms .223 scoped ... lets just say it was bloody difficult with NO support ....:D

Sent my pics in, that was fun. I shot 3 rounds of 20, one at a plain target while sitting and twice at the soldier target. You really have to work at it in the sitting position but I definetly improved by the 3rd one.
I didn't look at the target for the hits until I was done and I think that helped me. I was worried that shooting it with an Aimpoint clone I wouldn't see enough of the target but I just kept the dot on the body and tried to hold as steady as I could.
Looking forward to next month's.

Good luck all.

The wife shoots her september match. She shot 9 points + 1 photo for 10.

Nothing melts my heart like a big smile from her!

The wife plays with my M1A. She does not like it as it "kicks too much".

Me test-driving a target candidate for the November match. I try to make each match challenging, but not impossibly hard. I've illustrated a large number of different targets and I'm now just trying to figure out which ones to use and how. It's alot of fun and gets me out to shoot more than I have been these past few years.

And lastly, the wife running through a practice session for the October match.

Sept and Oct

E-mailed the results of Sept and Oct targets. Had a hard time getting used to shooting from a sitting position for Sept I've never had to shoot from that stance before. Having a great time with this thanks Brobee.

If I find someone to shoot with I may even have some pics of my rifle and me for the November match.

Well, got out just in time to get my M-14 target for the September shoot. I was pleased with my grouping but boy, that 308 is a high shooting SOB at 100 yards. I was aiming at the bottom of the black target with the sights rolled all the way down. Guess I'll have to aim at the bottom of the paper next time. (I don't have a spotting scope yet so my shooting method is to shoot a whole magazine, then walk down and see what I got. With the range busy and time limited, I decided to shoot all three and then walk down).

I also played with the self timer on my cell phone and propping the camera against a stack of empty mags. You may notice that I appear to be shooting from an unloaded gun. I wasn't too thrilled about the prospect of setting up the camera (which involved practically lying down on the concrete while my butt stayed on the mat) and then rolling up, grabbing a loaded gun, and trying to get it into a cool looking shooting position before the self timer went off.

Looking forward to the next month's shoot.

Tommorrow (30 Sep 07)

This is just great. Nice rules, good website. Will shoot September's tomorrow (last day of the month - 30 Sep) with my No4 Mk1 Enfield (iron sights) and submit same day if thats okay ?

Thanks for setting that up.

We will miss the September match!!

Sorry to miss shooting for the September match; but we will certainly send some targets for the October shoot. Great Idea, to get the boys out to shoot their bang sticks. A bit of friendly competition goes a long way.

Take care

For those that missed it (the thread is getting long), October's targets available for download at http://www.eclecticworks.ca.

I won't have a chance to compile scores this week, however I've carved some time out early next week (thanksgiving day!). I should have the September scores posted shorthly thereafter.

Good luck, and good shooting!

I'm not sure that they are going to let me fire my M-14 on the 25 yard pistol range. Am I reading this right?

Good point. Might want to consider that for the next shoot.
I don't think my club would allow a 30-06 Garand shoot at the 25m pistol range either.
They have a tendancy to tear the hell out of the wooden stands at that range.
