Hello yee wise CGN members,
I have a Bavarian M1 carbine (stock, handgard, operating rod, trigger housing, and bolt are all stamped with the last four digits of the receiver serial number) The receiver is IBM serial number 3764030. The carbine is in very good+ condition but has one major flaw.... the barrel has been replaced with a commercial 20" barrel. I want to restore this sweetheart back to its correct condition. What barrel should I find to replace the 20" replacement with? My research indicates that the receiver was manufactured in 1944 but apparently IBM stopped marking its barrels in 12-43 Should I (if I can find one) put on a 1943 IBM barrel or an unmarked barrel... or what?
Cheers,
Martin
