I can't get the bayonet off my 1891/30. It came with the bayonet on backward and I can't release it. It is not on really tight but pushing the button does nothing. Can anyone help me?

My first one came shipped that way. It was a pig to get off the barrel. I beat on it with a 2x4 for a while with no results. Then I just twisted it back and forth HARD and it gradually worked loose. The button thing does nothing when the bayonet is on reversed like that, so don't worry about that. The bayonet is just stuck on by friction. Wail on it and it'll come off.I can't get the bayonet off my 1891/30. It came with the bayonet on backward and I can't release it. It is not on really tight but pushing the button does nothing. Its a milsurp rifle. So you should go out and buy a good twin headed rubber mallet, or even better, a brass one. Trust me, you'll us it a lot.
