BC Dream Hunts

45ACPKING, medvedqc, Ashcroft, Conor_90, thanks for the kind words! Those pictures Longwalker, the mountains and surroundings, that's what I'm looking forward to the most. It's going to be a sensory overload! :d

Yesterday I picked up a decent little "super-zoom" camera, a Panasonic ZS60. It's got a small sensor but takes decent pictures once set up properly. Going to start fiddling with it today to get accustomed to it's layout and menus, after I have another little run on the treadmill... Kinda wishing I wouldn't have procrastinated so long in getting myself into better shape!

i think that today a bc dream hunt is in the Yukon.

I would agree with that! :)

If you have any inclinations to go sheep hunting, I would get that out of your system while you're still young and fit.

Yeah, don't be stupid and do something crazy like go for goats as a chubby mid-50 year old, just crying out for an emergency chopper evac....

haida Gwaii was on my bucket list for a number of reasons, the deer, the elk and the steelhead.
I crossed two off the list but not the elk.... that's a whole nuther ballgame hunting that herd.

I would also like to do a deer hunt on Haida Gwaii.
Will see about digging up an older thread on hunting there...

If you were young, stupid, in relatively good shape and a resident of British Columbia what are the hunts that you would have on your bucket list?

Say you're willing to spend as much as you would on a canned plain games hunt in SA.

Northern Rockies jet boat safari for this dude. Jetboat may cost more than above mentioned price, ymmv.

:dancingbanana:

My dream hunt occurs annually in autumn. Here in Alberta, wildlife is endless with quality and quantity, from antelope to moose and from teals to big Canada geese. I can't wait until this autumn.

I'm not fussy. Any place in BC where I've got a chance to bring a deer home pleases me.

Of course I have had the good fortune to have got a Roosevelt bull elk LEH draw in the past so I don't have that kind of Holy Grail I'm seeking.

Lately I've been looking at other countries to hunt. Africa doesn't really float my boat but I'm seriously thinking of taking in a hunt when I go to Uruguay next year. Probably large boar and red deer. Prices seem decent too. For the price of a guided moose/elk/sheep hunt here in BC I can fly to Uruguay for vacation "and" afford the hunting trips and animal fees.

Have to admit though, all this talk of caribou has had me looking at regs and consulting maps. My wife is my hunting partner full time now and she wants a caribou …….

PM me if you want help with a spot. I have a few.

I've hunted moose way off the beaten path twice up in the Besa area , doing the nevis creek, besa and forced to take the trimble lake loop once to evade hungry grizzly bears.
Never the shooter on those trips but was pleased to be invited, be useful and learn.

Looking at the reg and google earth for road access to base a camp out of, one quickly realizes why most of us folks aren't doing much caribou hunting LOL
