Today was the first actual(not a practice) Action Rifle League CQB shoot. It took place out at Abbotsford Fish and Game Club. We had 50 guys out for this first match in which we were classifying folks. As we have all levels of shooters, from never shot an organized event before to guys that have shot on an international stage for their country, we decided that its only fair to be actually competing against folks of the same skill level. So the first hurdle was that you had to shoot a minimum of 300 out of 700 to get in to the marksman level. I really didn't want to leave anyone out of the badge levels but I figured you need to be able to shoot a minimum level. Wouldn't really be fair to give a guy that shot 70/300 the same badge as a guy that shot 370/700. So 300 was the standard. Thankfully everyone at the match shot at least 300 this time! Awesome surprise!
The levels went like this.
Marksman 300-425
Sharpshooter 426-525
Expert 526-624
Master 625-700
When I get the file that has all the actual scores I will post them all with first name and last initial. If you prefer not to be listed drop me a PM.
I can say that there were a small amount of marksman badges handed out with the vast majority being sharpshooter. A few more in the expert category and only one ,single master patch. Some real good shooting there! A couple were close to master and I'm sure with a bit more practice and/or luck will be there in no time. Overall way better shooting than last time guys! Well done!
I got one special kudo going out tonight. This one goes to Illae. Here is a quick vid I took of him shooting one of the transition matches. This was his first attempt at a match of any kind. Brand new AR and little training. The cool thing about this is what you can't see. My man is missing most of his right hand. You will see how a guy with drive can operate under any circumstances and overcome some stuff that would put most people down. Awesome! Dude if you are this smooth right now you are going to be a force after a few more matches! Really really well done!
