BC Hunters - 2018-2020 regulations out (Finally!)

wow have we ever been raped for moose hunting opportunities..... not even worth going.
I want to see this years region by region , M-U by M-U resident vs guide tag allocation for moose in region 6 and region 7 a and b
this is getting just fuggen stupid.

I see a long list of communities throughout those regions who are going to be seriously missing a tonne of resident hunter spending.

No, you're wrong. That was a proposal earlier in the year but it never carried through into the regulations.

Check again... I bet you're looking at last year's regs...

I think a lot of hunters who travel from the south to hunt the general open season here in the lower portions of Region 6, Skeena, will think twice about coming now that the open season has been shortened to 3 days. This will also curb resident hunter spending.

exactly my point

but..... every logging truck driver, skidder operator and road grander, buncher operator.... and I can go on..... and every resident hunter in region 6.... now has an exclusive 3 day season to get thier moose.
It's a total load of garbage what these idiot managers are doing with game allocations. Destroying BC hunting opportunity with each passing year.
There's lots of animals out there but they want less eyes and ears reporting on the logging/mining and gas industry behavior.

At least it's a weekend (Oct 20 is a Saturday). In two years the 20th will be a Tuesday, so if the season doesn't change it'll be Tues/Weds/Thurs...

What's with having to remove the rib meat now too?
That either adds up to a lot of extra time trimming away meat from the ribs or packing out all that extra weight in bone of the rib cage.

to be honest, I don't need a BC hunting license or tag to hunt "a few select" areas of the province as I have been issued letters of permission to harvest certain plants, birds, fish and animals within band territories. I also can exercise my treaty 6 rights in alberta but I don't.
However, I think I'll just hunt elsewhere as region 6 has pretty much just been handed to the guides and locals. I'm certainly not going to waste my time loading up for such a short season that will see a zillion hunters in a frenzy , road hunting thier asses off driving all the game deep into the bush LOL

I guess there's no point complaining, there is no useful resident hunter group successfully greasing politicians pockets so I expect BC hunting will go the way of BC salmon fishing and within a decade it will be too much hassle to bother for most folks.

Moose and deer are looking ground very quickly. The next cover of the synopsis will be a pristine bc mountain landscape with a giant red outlined "closed" stamped on it.

Sad, not science based just like the grizz hunt

just another way to slowly remove firearms from civilian hands, once hunting and subsistence lifestyle is gone for all but the indigenous people, Target shooters will be a smaller and easier target

sure hope yer being sarcastic
lotsa good sausage fillins in the ribs , they are never left behind.

No I'm being serious and I guess you can call me wasteful.
Sure if I get a deer, or I'm closer to the truck with something larger, I'll hump out the whole thing to get as much meat as possible.
But if I've done some serious miles in a hike for something larger, like an elk, I'm seriously going to consider the worth of taking out all that weight in rib bone for what meat is actually there.
Neck, no question, it can go in a game bag along with loins and straps.

So I'm curious how far you folks would hike carrying out everything but the guts on something large like an elk?

Its all part of the game, regardless of how far away from the truck you are. If weight is your major concern, debone it. If time is your major concern, pack out more weight. It doesn't take that much time to remove the rib meat, it's perfect for the grind pile once home...

If anything, elk or moose are the best ones to have to remove rib meat. A small black bear or costal deer would yield far less rib meat than a nice big moose or elk...
