BC LEH are out

I heard the strangest story to this day I don't believe and can't confirm. There are individuals that would get a PAL and get a hunting license that would purposely enter for Limited Entry just to stop other hunters from getting their kill. I don't bother for LEH because I'm super unlucky anyways.
There is an active subculture in BC that do exactly what you are saying.
'Cept they are getting their CORE and buying up Draws...
A fringe group of PETA and I forget their exact name/affiliation.
To each their own.
Why angry EDX2308, we can beat them at their own game, just have to figure them out and then ferret them out in the game.

I pulled a goat draw. Had the same area a few years back and spent a week mountain climbing to only come out empty. Oh well at least I got some hard earned intel this time around.

Ive been putting in LEHs for the last 19 years. Got a cow elk draw once in 2018. And this year I continue with my almost perfect zero draw record.

This has been a thing for a long time

well , i had heard from all the friends that coordinated with us for this years LEH Moose but one. As it turns out, they were the only group that was successful. 2 tags right in my backyard so I'll be doing lots of scouting for them between now and then. I got the invite to join them so I'll be doing the calling when the time comes ;)

Gotta be a way to stop this ! Ideas ?

it's been going on for the whole time the LEH system has existed in BC.
I have actually met people who enter as many draws as they can every year with no intention of hunting the animal if they get drawn.
I believe it started with a bunch of eco losers coming up with ideas to interfere with the Grizzly bear hunts. The wierdo lady that admitted to me she did this was bragging that she puts in LEH every year in her area for the moose and doe draws and she has friends who do the same. She passed away from cancer a few years ago but the practice is probably more widespread than people even realize.
The ministry can't do anything about it. If a person has a resident hunter number in BC they qualify for the draw. There is no onus on a hunter number holder to prove they are actually hunting the draws they get.
These ideas are cooked up by the same organizations that actively buy guide outfitting territories with no intention of letting anyone harvest any animals.

I think the BC LEH could use an upgrade so that odds are moved to a point system like other provinces. So say you get drawn one year and there is a 3 years enhanced odds that apply to that species, each following year you should be granted points that represent the odds percentage. It should accumulate so that every 4 years, those hunters that haven't been drawn and have maxed out there odds, get priority for draws that season. It should be visible online as an addition to the WILD system.
But getting rid of fake hunters that put in for the draws to "save the animals" is probably darn near impossible.

Mandatory reporting in all LEH draws before being eligible for draws the next season.
That way at least the gov can incorporate the data and adjust tag allocations accordingly.

Did you hunt?
How many days did you hunt?
Were you successful?
That type thing.

It is an offence to make a false or misleading statement yadda yadda yadda.

I didn't put in for any this year.
There's my wife and I and our 14mo son at home. 4 full freezers, mostly meat.
#2 is due late September.
My beef is going to die September October.
I didn't want to get a draw and not be able to hunt or get a draw, hunt, and give away an Angus beef or moose. I also didn't want to burn up a tag for someone else and lower my odds for later.

On the plus side though friends got moose draws locally so I'll be helping again.
