bc transfer time

Apparently so. I called the BC CFO a couple of weeks ago after waiting 3 weeks for a restricted transfer and she wanted to fax the statt to me. I said no, fax it to the gun store. She said she couldn't do that any more without my permission due to some privacy act or law. Also since I was getting the statt verbally over the phone, I had to pick a date for pick up since it is only good for one day. I also just bought a restricted last Friday and got a sheet from the gun shop outlining the procedure of now having to call the BC CFO to complete the transfer. Call, give all pertinent info, get statt faxed to me or give permission to fax it to gun shop.

I bought a restricted two weeks ago. Paid for it at a local shop on a Saturday, the owner started the transfer on Monday then I dropped back in Tuesday and he called the BC CFO (waited about 15 minutes on hold) and told them "I have a customer here in my store wanting to take his handgun home". The BC CFO gal got on the phone with me, asked a couple questions, i handed the phone back over to the owner....and a half hour later I had my STATT faxed to the store and I took the handgun home.

Just purchased from Saskatchewan in BC, submitted and approved in 4 days. I did call twice though to check on status, and update my latest range membership for my LTATT (which knowingly wasnt needed, but provided an opportunity to hound them again)

I have always found that you get more with sugar, than salt. I make a point to go out of my way to be courteous. Not sure it helps, but I've never had a transfer waiting for more than a week.

About a month ago I did a private sale BC to BC, took 10 days.
In the midst of a private Alberta to BC sale. I think it is at the 10-day mark today, keeping fingers crossed.
Did a private Bc to BC sale last Sept/Oct. Took a couple of months if I recall.

I second the "being nice" versus "being nasty" approach but that is more by my nature and general approach to things.

The gunshop requested the transfer (from Ontario to BC) on the last Thursday, I called CFO on this Tuesday morning and the transfer has already been approved. So the total time is about 3 working days.
I am lucky because the application for my first PAL/RPAL cost about 30 days. The only time much longer than I expected is finding an available S&W 6' 686.

I call in every day starting on day 2. Haven't had anything go longer than a week. If you're lucky enough to reach someone in AB they'll approve it on the spot.

Just completed a BC to BC private transfer and it took 16 days.

Just did one, completed in the past week, that took only 8 days for approval [including a weekend in the middle].

BC to BC, person to person, private transfer.

A far cry from the 1-2 day transfers of ~ a year ago, but a huge improvement from 6 - 8 weeks of only a few weeks ago.

ST-ATT came quickly via email as well.

Alberta to BC in 3 days! I didn't call to inquire until day 5 expecting a further delay, and was told that it was approved 2 days before. Had a good experience, everyone at CFO office was friendly and helpful.

Buying a new firearm is fast... But. Private, omg the wait times! I am giving my bro a revolver... Already 3 weeks, man!
To my bro! Not some stranger in another province or part of a different province. my BROTHER! I don't get it...

I have been going through getting a restricted transfered from the old system through an estate. Overall, CFC was quite helpful in the situation. However, they told me that the transfer would take about 6 weeks in BC.

Mine was actually a private sale. I had expected a few weeks at least. I'm surprised and my new toy is in the mail headed my way!
