Picked up a new to me, but Unfired bcl 102 in green. I am a noob when it comes to black rifles, but I picked this up for fun/deer hunting. I was a bit skeptical because of some iffy reviews, mostly about fte. But I am happy to report after a quick range day, I am very pleased with this rifle.
I fired two boxes each of 180 grain super x and federal blue box, and half a box of 150 grain super x I had laying around. Not one failure, other then the xcr mag is a bit tight, and I didn’t notice it wasn’t seated properly, and the bolt failed to pick up a round. Flawless with the iwi mag.
I slapped on a bushnell red dot I had laying around while I wait for new rings for my scope to come in. Bore sighted, ended up about 2” high at 50 yards. Ringing steel at 150 yards without much trouble. I couldn’t resist a mag dump and it at the rounds up and spit them out like it was mad at them. Nice little pile of brass about 6 feet away at about 5 o clock. Seems odd it flings them backwards, if I was a lefty I probably would be needing dental work.
one negative is the cerakote does not seem very tough? I accidentally fumbled a bit trying to mount the red dot and it took a chip out of the cerakote near the top of the trigger on left side.... but the $250 red dot is still mint?? Also the brass was marking up the cerakote pretty good from ejecting. But whatever. Won’t be the last time it gets some marks on it. Some people pay for a “battle worn” finish haha..
In summary i think I have my new favorite rifle. I’ll see if it can come close to my savage for accuracy. Might have to be my new go to for hunting. I’ll see how it does with a proper scope on it when I get a chance. Plus made in Canada is a big plus for me.
