BCL 102 MK7 - what it should have been 2 years ago?

Not exactly what happened and there is no need to pre order a MK7 dealers will have stock and in Calgary at least you can actually try one and decide for yourself if it works.

Right, sorry, the Troy 102 wasn't 1600$ it was 1710$... :jerkit:

I'm not a historian, that was the reader's digest version. The basic premise of the BCL/SFRC pre-order scam stands.

So you're telling us CSC will not be collecting pre-order money for these rifles?

Your story about Troy’s involvement is completely incorrect. Furthermore Troy is effectively building the older problematic model not the Mk 7 so any problems those guns are experiencing are not reflective of the Mk7.
And no we are not pre selling Mk 7 guns but if you are interested in one contact orders@theshootingcentre.com and we will let you know when we have stock.

Ok. So the old pre mk7 were complete train wreck because it wasnt standardized ar308 stuff.

However, if the mk7 are all "milspec" dpms pattern. It may be worth a try, worst come to shove is me transferring all my aero m5 guts over. Sell the aero for 1000$, recoupe some money there.

Here we go again, same old people some who have never owned a BCL102 giving it a bad time.....

Lol. They couldn’t get a 60 year old design right the first 6 times, but this will be lucky number seven...

Actually it was on Pre-order for $1710+tax and shipping with regular price of $1800+tax and shipping. When SFRC was asked if there was a IOP, he said no because margins are slim. Then they cut the price down to $1330 all in...because "margins are slim". Then he deletes the Troy102 sale thread once they were all sold. Actions speak louder than words.

The fact that TSE is more truthful and honest considering their past actions is telling.

I also have a feeling JR didnt like dealing with Ryan at SFRC and which is why it looks like they're dropping the Troy line and are selling/making Sterling rifles.

Are you on drugs? JR and I were two different distributors for Troy and have absolutely nothing to do with each other. There was no IOP for Troy but there were no margins to do so with a dealer network. As a distributor I can’t sell items cheaper to someone, IOP or not, than I sell to other dealers.

Troy wanted to move a few 100 rifles quickly so we offered the screw Trudeau sale after the election. Once the sale was over the price went back to normal and the thread was deleted. I’m not going to advertise a sale after it’s over.

They didn’t drop Troy but they no longer sell Troy as far as I know.

Actually production is in full swing regardless. Troy is a solid manufacturer and we (us and SFRC) sent our monies down for these rifles awhile ago.

It won't bother me if no one else buys at a pre-sale price as I'll have the rifles here soon enough and to be honest; I'm not a big fan of pre-sales myself. Yes, it is nice to get some affirmation with a pre-sale. However, the market is large enough for non-restricted rifles, I am willing to "gamble" by putting my money down in advance to get this project underway.

JR

I have been told to expect to see photos of completed rifles next week. I have been sent photos of teh production along the way, but asked not to share as it shows proprietary jigs and stuff.

This is why I hate pre-sales and was only really forced into it as we are not the sole driver of this project.

JR

ok.

FWIW when I worked at IBI, we examined a number of take-off 102 factory barrels. Quality was pretty 'meh' and they were using a 7.62 NATO chamber reamer optimized for 147gr M80 ball, if I recall correctly. Not sure if that's still the case, though.

I hope they sorted their problems out with the Mk7. We had a 102 on loan to us for testing purposes, and it was awful. The ejection port cover didn't fit, the front takedown pin retaining pin had burst through its housing wall in the receiver... I wasn't impressed. When we got a Stag10 for testing, it was night and day.

So yeah, best of luck to BCL on this one. I hope *this* time they have finally turned the page.

Stag 10 is excellent. No point buying BCL with the Stag available.

^This. I assembled my Stag-10 (first AR type rifle I've ever assembled) and it runs like a sewing machine. With the IBI barrel I put on its sub-MOA (5rd groups) at 100 with factory 140ELDM ammo and a load that is a clone of factory. Will do load dev once I have a couple hundred down the pipe. Point being, why would anyone roll the dice on a BCL-102 at this point? It's all fine and good to support Canadian companies but when you hear about tons of issues with the product and there's a totally viable alternative, why gamble? Hopefully they've sorted themselves out but I kinda question the sanity of anyone who buys one of their rifles at this point.

Battered wife syndrome.

Glad to hear your IBI worked out for you. Depending when you bought it, I might have been the dude who cut the chamber on it. I have an IBI 19" AR barrel in .223 Wylde that I still haven't shot.. I'm really curious to see how well it can shoot.

But yeah, if I had the coin, I would probably wait until the first Mk7s got out to end users so I could read honest feedback. A Stag10 still seems like a better option at this point.
