So neither the UBR Gen11 or the rifle length buffer tube I had in stock would capture the buffer retaining pin.
Could take some material off buffer tube/reciever extension flange to capture.
Has anyone come up with minimal machining solution?
Yes it runs just fine without the retaining pin.
What exactly needs to be modified to make the 7.62 raptor charging handle work in the 102?
File a bit of the tabs (ears) off.
I just chucked mine in the lathe and machined a bit of the face off of the flange. If you don't have access to equipment, it can probably be done fairly easily with a file.
How much needs to come off? Thousandths or something more significant? I assume this is off the shoulder of the extension?

That is a very good point !!! With the captured spring there is nothing being held under tension by the retainer, as the unit is sitting there as a single “cartridge”, there is no additional tension to hold back. I think that I just have to ensure the JP spacer in the A5 buffer tube is cut to the correct length. If you opt for the JP Silent Captured Spring you won't have to worry about modifiying the reciever extension as the buffer retainer is redundant.
The spring can't go anywhere.
I thought I had heard those PWS tubes didn't work with the 102.
I thought I had heard those PWS tubes didn't work with the 102. Don't suppose you can clarify that.
The pws tube I had for a DPMS Gii didn’t work with the GII. But.. that’s a very different firearm. Unfortunately with AR308 rifles it’s often uncertain what will work.
