BCL 102 stripped receiver set thread

I've been wanting to get either a complete factory 102 or just a stripped receiver set. I'm a bit conflicted. Some reports are that the factory 102 is complete s#!te and others say they have not had any issue whatsoever.

I guess what I'm wondering is if it's safe to buy a complete rifle or if the people who report not having any issues just haven't used it enough to find out?

This won't be a rifle that I will ever put thousands of rounds through. Should I chance getting a good one or just wait it out until I have the funds to build one that I know will work?

I can only comment on mine which is a gen 2 rifle....it's been 100% reliable to date but the trigger had much to be desired!

In my opinion, if you can get a stripped set you can build a better rifle for not much more spent.

BCL102 is to the AR10 platform what the M305 is to the M14 platform. They generally seem okay but are not high end and you can easily out build a factory version for not much more money if you can start with a stripped reciever set.

I tried a few different A2 rifle length receiver extensions on my stripped receiver set as well as a buddy's and neither of us could spin it in enough to capture the buffer retainer.

I helped another buddy install an AR Stoner (MidwayUSA house brand) A2 receiver extension into his complete rifle, and it captured the buffer retainer, but I don't have it handy to test fit into my receiver.

Surefire muzzle brake - Midwayusa
Ballistic Advantage 6.5cm barrel -CTCS
AR Stoner NiB LR308 BCG - Midwayusa
Armalite SASS hand guard - EE
DPMS 308 buffer, buffer spring, A2 receiver extension - Midwayusa
DPMS dust cover, AR Stoner ambi selector- Midwayusa
Colt A2 stock - EE
PRI tac latch - Midwayusa
Factory BCL 102 charging handle - EE
Spuhr sp4002 - Go Big Tactical
Razor HD Gen II - SFRC
Norgon ambi mag release - Nordic (not pictured).
KAC buis - EE

For the Midwayusa stuff, you'll have to get IRG or Az Tec to bring it in for you.

Remember, I haven't tested any of this stuff out, so I don't even know if it works.
