BCL 102 thoughts

In all honesty, no. This is my second semi auto rifle (gsg-15 first), i stripped it before going out and it was fairly clean and was oiled. That being said i'm obviously a little new, would that make that much of a difference? Every round was stovepiping, i took it home and cleaned/oiled afterwards and still found that pulling back on the charging handle it wouldn't eject snap caps.

Well after alot of thought on this I just ordered mine today from SFRC couldn't resist the price with the iop program, not really that worried, if there is a problem I'll give them a call. I've bought from them before and they've been great to deal with. Always answered any of my questions promptly, so I'm buying this expecting there might be some teething problems but I love working on my guns anyway and having this as a NR to just to hard to pass up.:d

A thorough cleaning of the chamber is important to remove any manufacturing debris or shipping oil. These rifles require a ton of guns oil during the break in. Run it WET.

I only have 1 kid.
When someone writes a very detailed list of what went wrong with his rifle, I tend to believe that. Why are you even here if you don't believe anyone and everyone is lying.
I had a christensen arms AR15 that exploded in my face too.
All my other guns are fine.

Guns exploding is 99.9% on the owner operater.

Eh people what are the thought on the stripped upper and lower sets.....any good ??? Or just junk metal!!
The thought of building one for fun is appealing but if you start off with junk well !!!
Any though please share
Any advice please help
Why is it junk ....what makes it junk or!!
The opposite!!
Thanks for the help

I picked up an unfired BCL-102 on consignment two weeks ago. Three parts to this post - parts, ammo, and then after the pics, my general impressions and good/bad.

It came bone-stock. Here are the parts I added:

  • CMC 3.5lb single-stage flat trigger
  • Fortis RED 7.62 muzzle brake
  • Magpul PRS-3 stock (had to install a rifle-length receiver extensions to make it fit)
  • Ergo grip
  • Vortex Viper 6.5-20x50
  • Harris medium-profile bipod

I was lazy about ammo. I didn't do any load development specific to this rifle, and instead brought some of my pet loads from my precision rifle. I think I can get the gun shooting sub-MOA with proper ladder-loads and when I am not extremely hungover like this trip.

Ammo:

  • Federal/AE XM80C 149gr. FMJ/BT (factory)
  • Barnes 165gr. TTSX (handload) (no pictures of these, sorry)
  • Hornady 168gr. BTHP Match, IMR 4895 38.0gr (handload)
  • Hornady 178gr BTHP Match, IMR 4064 41.7gr [Mk316 mod 0 clone] (handload)

XM80C @ 100yds. Shot about 3MOA

Mk316 Mod 0 @ 100yds. About 1.5MOA

My general impressions:
  • Reliability is dependent on ammo and magazines.
  • I used Magpul 5/20 PMAGs and XCR-M 10rd mags. The XCR-Ms had a tendency to double-feed, regardless of ammo. The PMAGs were very reliable.
  • The hotter the load, the better the reliability. This could be part of the break-in process, so I will wait and see.
  • Recoil with the brake is very mild. I didn't shoot the gun with the factory BCL flash hider, so I may bring that next time.
  • The rifle's fit and finish is superb. My only complaint is the rifle is bloody heavy with the PRS, optic, and bipod. I think it's around 13lbs.

Why the CMC 3.5lb single-stage flat trigger and how do you like it?

Rick

I have used adjustable TriggerTech and CMC triggers, and found that they have a bit of creep that gets worse at lower pull weights (the TriggerTech is the worst of the two). The fixed trigger has no creep and a nice, clean break.

I can't describe it, but it kinda feels like the flat trigger improves my pull. I originally went with flat because that was what was in stock at the time, but it has grown on me.

Just picked up my 102 this fall, but so far having some real FTE issues. I have XCR mags, Magpul mags, and steel mags, doesnt matter which. everything from Hirtenberger to Hornady, I seem to have at least 1 FTE per mag. fairly new to black rifles..... Help?

If it is new, clean and lube the heck out of it, and get at least 100 rounds through it.
These are built to very close tolerances and need to be broken it.
I am in the 500ish count and the works perfectly with Hirtenberger after having similar issues in the past.
BTW I use full synthetic lube truck oil (Shell Rotella T6) but don't tell anyone.

Mine jammed all the time until I changed the gas rings. I would contact BCL about warranty.

Thanks! I'll try that.

I just got my bcl in the other day and had a chance to try it out yesterday quick and it performed perfectly. I had one ftf but for some reason my reloaded round was a dud and the primer wouldn't go off so not the fault of the gun
They must have improved the QC on the newer ones, I never disassembled it for an initial clean or nothing. Just sprayed a pile of gun oil on and around the bolt and it worked fine
I just threw a set of cheap ruger irons that I had on it so not sure on the accuracy really but I was hitting the paper targets no problem
So far I like everything about it except the dust cover seems bland compared to the one on an AR, but it fits and functions good

Full synthetic works better in very hot and cold climates.
Having said that, I now live on Vancouver Island where is a very chilly +8c :)
