BCL 102 thoughts

Can someone point out the difference between first generation BCL 102 and subsequent version

Well I have a First Gen and my bud has the second Gen and this is from memory of a side by side comparison. I am nowhere near either now.

Gen 2 has larger size torx screws on the handguard than Gen 1. Gen 1 is like a T5 and G2 is like a T15 (from memory).

Gen 2 trigger guard has pin or pins so it opened up on bottom, Gen 1 is solid trigger guard.

Gen 2 and Gen 1 have different bolt release (not 100% sure on this).

Gen 2 has ambi-dexterous charging handle, Gen 1 is right handed.

The last thing I noticed was that the QD quick release attachment point on the Gen 1 handguard is too close to the receiver and cannot be used because it is situated over the thicker receiver end of the barrel and is not deep enough. On the Gen 2 it is about and inch further down the barrel and works fine. This may be a factor of the depth of my particular QD QR.

That is all I could notice other than muzzle breaks are different on most regardless of Gen.

After spending exhausting moments dealing with my stove piping BCL, I would encourage anyone looking at ANY BCL product to look elsewhere. No reason why ANYONE should have to spend more to have a functioning rifle. If I has wanted to spend more on non BCL parts, I would have just bought an ATRS. Sure wish I had trusted my instinct from reviews on various forums and gone with the STAG 10, but it's so damn hard not to support Canadian Made. Sure, some of you have had no issue, and I would be happy if Warranty had their $hit together and made an effort to resolve this issue. Last email sent on this system. At wits end now. BUYER BEWARE, don't buy something with crap support to go with it. spend the money and get the whole package.

Ive had my blc 102 since last feb and so far have run 2 cases of hurtenburger (sorry about the spelling) about 150 rounds of handloads 42.2 grains of h4895 with 168 grain bullet and some american eagle 168 grain bthp through the gun. Ive also tried some hunting ammo i had laying around, really a mixture of everything. Ive had no issues so far with the rifle, it shoots like expected. I have even shot it out to 600 meters with surplus ammo on man sized targets and its accurate for what it is. At 100 meters i can shoot clays sitting on a berm all day long, last week i was shooting water bottles and beer cans off the same berm at 100 meters. Is it a tack driver? No, but its no meant to be. Its a modern hunting rifle, it shoots minute of deer, coyote and moose. Is it reliable? yes, ive had no failures at all with this rifle.
Price? Well it cost me 1700 plus tax and after adding a leopold vx3 to it its worth a few dollars..in the grand scheme of things its not pricey but its not a cheap plinker either. I havent shot the stag yet but i shoot and fix weapons for a living so i do have some experance with modern weapons. Sure the fit and finish isint up to what some people expect but for the price...mine seems perfect. My only gripe is that the barrel is not heavy enough for sustained shooting, what?? Yeah when shooting at distance say over 400 meters it heats up and you loose grouping on target.
Many people seem to #### on these rifles but how many have shot one? Im guessing not many. Im not a fan boy of any brand, i buy what i like and shoot for fun on weekends when i get time and i find it relaxing. I have a custom ar 15 made by STI out of texas with a heavy barrel that shoots like a laser, is it better, more fun than my bcl 102; well no buy it does give a smile every time i shoot it and thats all that should really matter to anyone.

I will post a review and some range time next time im out shooting.

enjoy.

All that I have received was an extractor, which hasn’t solved the problem. Of course they don’t tell me anything else about any form of recall or anything. The standard for quality service isn’t there. Personally, I would rather have them send the pieces and I replace as I go, keeping the old pieces to return once the issue is resolved.

Messaged BCL through their customer contact form, Rob got back to me the next morning and confirmed my problem was an extractor that was improperly heat treated. 2 weeks later I received said extractor. Yesterday I tested at the range and the rifle functioned flawlessly. Response time was fast and issue was solved. :)
