BCL 102. Worth it?

I think people are equating the fact that the stag costs more, so therefore it must be better quality. That's not always the case though.

Stag's receivers are made of forged 7075 T6 with high quality Type III Hard Anodizing. Stag has been making rifles since 2003 and has a good reputation. Stag has a lifetime transferable warranty and an infinite shot barrel warranty. Stag is 100% US made(every part). Stag has great customer service.

BCL makes its receivers from 6061 T6 coated with low quality Ceracoat. BCL is a start up cobbled together from the remnants of a failed company with an absolutey terrible reputation for quality control and they seam to be no different if not worse imo. If you can even get ahold of them, BCL's warranty is a complete crap shoot as you can see from this thread and many others. BCL doesn't say where all of their parts are made. BCL has some of the worst customer service ever seen in the firearms industry imo.

It isn't very hard to see why people think Stag makes a better quality product(the specs speak for themselves), nor why they cost more. But, you are right, just because it costs more doesn't always mean it is better quality(it's often a descent indicator though).

Do people actually think the Stag is better quality? Have you handled both? All I know is fit and finish in my opinion is better on the BCL as well as it has ambi controls. Stag seems to be way pickier with ammo and seems to have failures more than my BCL. Accuracy in both guns I would say are the same.

Stag are definitely better quality.
Stag are built by a company who's been building AR's a long time, built with better materials, has a better warranty, has better customer service.
BCL is like going to the Casino, some days you come out smiling but most come out down.

I own neither but have handled both so have no bias like most do because they spent their money on one or the other.
If I wanted a cheaper AR-10ish rifle I would buy Stag, but for now I'll just keep my Modern Hunter.

Well, I've been waiting nearly a month for the promised shipping label to send mine back in a second time because it won't get 2 shots off in a row.

I wrote them again and was assured I'd have it emailed to me by the end of today.

I'll write them again next week

I don't know what they upgraded the first time, other than adding the plastic dust cover and, supposedly, a new barrel.

I'd say that it still doesn't shoot worth a damn, but it's hard to settle in for some work when you're constantly clearing malfunctions.

Earlier Gen 2 gun. I've managed to get under 50 rounds through it in over a year, because it plain isn't worth the irritation.

Buyer been warned. I'm done with supporting that company.

Modern hunter all the way. I hope to get my hands on one of them in the future.

My brand new bcl went to the range last weekend. Over the course of 2 days put about 500 rounds through it. It ate everything I threw at it. MFS, Barnaul, tulammo and of course American eagle. Not a single malfunction. Haven't really tested it for accuracy yet with a decent load but American eagle 150 grain was grouping just under 2 inches at 100. Couldn't be happier with mine

good to hear!

BCL can be a crapshoot, I have one and I'm working through some stove pipe issues, and waiting for the parts. As far as contact, I have been e mailed back generally within the hour, worst case a day or so. I wish the gun was perfect when I got it, however their service department has been very good to deal with as far as getting it fixed. And I was a second owner, so no issues for me.
