Ok thanks, yeah I Iike the handle look too. The rear peep and front blade sights are actually set rather low within their housings, so the cheek weld isnt bad and about in line with my bottom lip. Very close in height to the flip up sites I had on it. The CTR riser is a must with the stock IMO.

The handle can be moved forward another 1.5" but I have it installed back a bit for asthetic balance and brings the peep back closer to my eye.

I plan on using this rifle more in a true scout fashion, carry, pack and shooting off hand. So any accessories will reflect that. No scope, no bipod, no bench.
I have another configuration too that I'll try shooting the rifle in. Basically a red dot, magnifier and flip up sights set up.

I may someday strip all my bolt on crap too, but I shoot from either shooting sticks or my bench.

Hiking I have a stripped down 12 gauge pump. :)
 
I have a 20rd pmag that looks better than the 30rd in the rifle, and I have a pair of Cross mags coming to try out. But I'd like to get a Colt mag eventually like you have.
I considered replacing the grip but I realized the other one I had on hand had too much angle, I like the more straight drop angle of the MOE K.
A different muzzle device may be in the future as well.
 
I prefer the Hogue moulded rubber grip not slippery.

Took the front brake off to do some accuracy testing, just reducing variables.

Only had 48 yards to test but it is always a good baseline, only had a 6 power scope without MilDots but using 55 grain Dillion reloads these 5 shots groups look fine, just need to stretch out to 100, 200 yards next once things warm up. :)

My eyes are getting bad so I really prefer MilDots and higher magnification, sure my kid could group better than me.

Letting the barrel cool really tightened things up as with all rifles.


The other groups were shooting pretty fast off the bipod.

Those shots look great.
I don't find the MOE K grip slippery, it is very thin/narrow though. But I'm more concerned with the angle than the texture.
Did you need much force to remove the brake? Does it require some heat applied?
 
Thanks yeah could have for sure tightened up the groups if I used a sled to lock the rifle down.

Brake came off easy using a good wrench no heat needed. Once I push it out further I will add the brake or a diverter.

Another configuration. So far I like this setup best, it's nicely balanced and comfortable to both hold and shoulder. We'll have to see how it shoots and if it warrants any changes after that.

There was a thread recently from North Sylva about what caliber and barrel length people would be interested in next 300blk or x39... So I suppose they could be releasing something after they make that decision???

They had issues with the few gen 1 in .300blk they produced. Lots of failures to eject as a result of the .223 bolt set up in the .300Blk (there are a few threads here on CGN about it too). Then it went dark. I asked BCL and North Sylva MANY times about it in the last 8-10 months (and again as recently as January 2022) here on CGN, via email and telephone. NEVER GOT A REPLY FROM ANYONE (NS actually deleted my question from a BCL Bison thread in their dealer forum) so I bought something else instead as this remains vapourware for the immediate future.

The way they reacted (or failed to react) to my questions leaves me uncomfortable with the type of after sales service I might encounter should I buy their product and have an issue. YMMV.....
 
My Bison had ejection issues, I emailed BCL had a Bison patch and upgrades sent to me in 3 days. One minute to slide out the parts no issues now. Had the same thing happen with a Savage and Kodiak, not uncommon and super easy fix, love the support being in Canada. Difference was they made it right fast and painless.
 
Just bought one in 300blk yesterday. Calgary shooting centre got a handful. I was happy with the 223 version so hopefully the same with this one. I'd like to hunt with it as well as target shoot as I can't hunt with 223 in Alberta.

I'll report back with how she shoots. They only had steel cased 145 gr Barnaul at the shop so I'll have to start with that. I'll have to get setup for reloading for it though. I'm planning to shoot mostly 150 gr as the bullets are cheap for target shooting.
 
Spent the night taking off the annoying gilled brake, replacing with s&j nano comp, mounting and levelling optic (Leupold vx freedom 1.5-4x20 moa ring) and putting on mlok accessories (QD mount, and sling swivel for my bipod). I think I can get away with a magpul sized cheek riser this time, as opposed to my last bison I had to get an airsoft one to get a 1.5" cheek weld lift.

Im thinking this will do well as a do it all rifle for me for now. I am excited to start reloading for 300blk once my brass stash gets big enough. Gonna be handy to carry minus the stabby mag well corners lol.
