BCL MRX Bison Bolt Action .223 - or 5.56

Hee hee...I just bought an MRA Renegade just last Saturday and picked it up directly from MRA. It is generation one (MK1) so no bolt catch/release (kind of used to that with my WK so no big deal). I did notice that the straight pull bolt on the Renegade is attached by a torx screw (so not threaded in like the WK is), but the handle also has two other dimples that fit into holes beside where the handle is torxed in, for some added reinforcement.

I cannot believe how light that Renegade is (I did get the 16" version, so not as light as the 12" but lighter than most things I own). I got the last one they have at a decent discount, so pretty happy. Still trying to determine what optic to put on it.

Nice,
I am going to go visit MRA again when the new shop is fully open next week. I need to go fondle some Renegade's, still undecided on 12 or 16". Leaning on 16.
I do hope BCL has success with the Bison but so far seems they're not off to a great start.
Communication is also lacking. Examples, many wanting to see 300Blk but BCL won't do a run without order from NorthSilva. NS don't seem to want to hear from customers, myself and others have had our post's deleted on their thread asking for more options like 300Blk and other colors. I did have a conversation going with Rob from BCL but after my post's here were removed was no further reply's. I guess NS asked them to stop dealing with customers. I relayed to my dealer my request for FDE/300Blk and asked they pass that along to NS and they looked at me sideways. Meanwhile this is what Rob/BCL instructed me to do. Very frustrating, bought a different rifle instead. It didn't scratch the itch so looking at the Renegade.

Yeah, it's too bad their storefront was under reno. I picked up in the back in the loading dock, where they put up a makeshift desk. Would have really liked to have seen the store (I had to use a washroom too, so I had utilitarian reasons for wanting the store open).

As for the Bison, I am going to wait for a bit. I love the look of the rifle, it's different, it's Canadian - but just like many new products - growing pains.

Thanks for the input about the customized 300BLK. I will say this about NS - I asked about something else one time and they just cut and paste a blurb and sent it to me. No salutation, nothing. Seems like direct communication with people is not their strong point, but they are happy to communicate when a product is being shipped to stores. What's frustrating is when the manufacturer is more or less held hostage by the distributor. Should be the other way around.

I found dealing with MRA amazing. They were responsive and even the President of the company thanked me for my purchase (I am sure it was a form letter email but it was a nice touch). My item was ready for pickup - they even knew I was coming (I was probably the only pickup) as when I showed up the guy in the loading dock / warehouse desk said "are you (my name)"?

Product is excellent. I looked it over with a fine toothed comb. I have no ARs so bought it plain jane for what it is, as something different (straight pull).

Back to the Bison - I did handle it in the store, really liked the weight and the look and the finish - but when the store manager/owner told me about the broken bolt handles, I just handed it back to him - didn't want to feign interest that I was going to buy it. Wouldn't have bought the Ruger American ranch rifle either.

The work flow order process does seem a bit convoluted, specially with NS as the middle person.... they are a big player in Canada but they seem to make no effort to communicate with the community here on CGN. It's not hard to imagine that they don't see communication with firearms owners as being all that important.

Nothing worse then extra layers between the customer and the product, specially if the layers start blaming each other for issues that they can claim are out of their hands....

BCL will likely never win back some of the potential customers that have written them off completely but at some point there needs to be a super human effort to get things sorted out in a transparent manor with A+ communication!

Update....
I received a phone call from Black Creek Labs this morning. IMO that was quick response to the email I sent to them yesterday afternoon!
Unfortunately, I missed the call but a text was sent immediately after introducing themselves and I got the impression they were commited to make things right. Long story short they're emailing me a return shipping slip for the rifle and indicated fixing my problem will be a priority and asap.

More to come.....

Decided to send the rifle back on Tuesday (due to the long weekend). Didn't want it sitting around the Shipping dock....
My M-lock mount was delivered on Friday for a surplus bi-pod in my parts bin.
Also, prefer the Colt 20rnd mags. IMO the size looks right vs the 30rnd.
