BCL102 presale

I handled one of the Gen 2 BCL 102's today that a coworker got. I was not very impressed. The machining of the receivers was decent, still some sharp corners & edges. The Cera-coat job was okay. The things that bugged me were the looseness of the Gas rings to BCG fit. If it was a AR15 I'd saw they are wore out, but maybe the rifle was designed this way. The opening in the upper is about 1/8" too long for the port door, so with a slight bump it pops open. The bolt catch seemed like it was barely catching the bolt. And Pmags (gen II or gen III) do not drop free, ASC 10 round XCR-M mags barely drop free. And a AXTS Raptor charging handles doesn't fit (they fit on the Gen I's). Also there was a scratch in the Cera-coat on the barrel from who ever installed the handguard. If it I got a new firearm like that I wouldn't bee too happy. The over size port door opening bugged me the most, since that cannot be changed with replacement parts. Like how is that even possible?? They find some 1/8" smaller port doors? Where their digital calipers zero'd wrong when checking dimensions on the part? Can they not see the obvious gap?

I cannot comment on function because it has not been fired yet, or how tight the chamber is since I did not bring my headspace gauges.
Thanks for this. I really want to buy one of these but as long as I keep seeing stuff like this I will hold off. It seems such a shame that they are only fixing a few small glitches away from having a real quality gun to sell and yet haven't managed to make the necessary changes.

The only thing I’m seeing that needs to be addressed is the port door not being flush. The mags are likely from the cerekote and will drop free after some use. The scratch was carelessness but could have been from the new owner. Either way it’s a one off and not something I’ve been hearing is a normal issue.

Will see when I get mine how it stacks up. Not until February though.

I hate waiting to review crappy stuff. And dismiss all the parts that were installed from factory... lol... But my time will come to do a unbias review ;)

But if my port door is puckered ill send that POS back.

The patent pending SI UDC enables users to attach and attached and detach the cover in 5 to 10 seconds with ease! It is constructed of a high-density polymer making it more durable and functional than the traditional dust covers. The Ultimate Dust Cover features an adjustable detent set screw in order to compensate wear on the receiver and increase or decrease opening power.

Well will order one of these... :) That should solve the issue...lol..

Ya, as long as the inside of the carrier is smooth and hopefully they dropped the "match" chamber, it's starting to look like they're getting close to a product I would pay for. The port door is silly but not the end of the world.
If they can make them consistently this good or better they'll push a lot of people off the fence.

Thanks I was thinking if ordering the JP polished spring and also a small sized buffer specifically to make the carbine stocks fit. But I don't know what gas system this thing runs, rifle or carbine?

I got a carbine but not sure if it will fit...lol im also thinking of getting a better buffer but will wait and see how the factory one is with the adjustable gas block first.

I thought it was a midlength gas system?

And yet they won't just sell stripped upper/lower....

People keep paying for them sight unseen, what do you expect? As long as the pre-sales keep selling out we'll never see receivers for sale. They make way more money selling the receivers with all the other crap that people seem fine with just replacing rather than insisting they do it correctly at the factory.
