BCL102 Range Review, SECOND RANGE TRIP POST 123!!!

people asking this gun to shoot 0.5 moa or its crap, frankly are talking out of their asses and know nothing of the price level that is involved in that level of consistent accuracy out of a semiautomatic.

I would say price level doesn't matter near as much as skill level for marksmanship, reloading, optic, and ballistic knowledge. That has been my experience. You can still have a quality firearm without having to pay a high price, but that usually is the exception not the rule.

Getting an DI AR type rifle to shoot is well understood. Yes, you can spend a fortune getting there.... I prefer to put the right tech in the right places. Doesn't seem to really cost all that much.

See the CDN AR MOA challenge from 2016... yep, based on a Norinco. Better barrel properly speced... better ammo.... better setup. Shot great.

Can be done very affordably... now if someone can confirm if an AR10 barrel will fit, we can get the right gear to make some very small groups happen.

Seems like people will do anything to defend a non restricted rifles reputation

Nothing I have as yet seen has needed defending. It is too early in the game to drop judgement, but I see some who are ready to jump there. Regardless even if mine won't do sub moa it is perfectly fine with me. It being non restricted is enough for me to be happy with it if it functions reliably. Some may be .5 MOA or it is junk. To that I say Meh.

With the right barrel this should shoot .5 moa no excuses anything else and its a write off

How many legitimate 0.5 moa groups have you shot from a semi auto?
Do you own a rifle capable of doing that with you on the trigger?

I don't think anyone is defending it's reputation, probably just more annoyed with ignorant statements that are made just to stir the pot.

Even with the right barrel I think maybe a consistent 0.75-1 moa would be exceptional from this platform. You would have to spend some time with load development or get lucky with FGMM or some other premium match factory load to get there though.

I also think that by the time you spent enough money to get there you could have just bought a MH, if I buy one of these it's going to be for general field use not benchrest shooting so as long as I can get 1moa from the factory barrel with handloads it's good enough. That turns into 4-6 moa ish in the field unless you can drop to bipod or set up your pack for the shot.

MrvJones I'm not bashing, only pointing out certain claims.
I'm not trying to cause trouble either.
What's good for you ,is fine, but may not be good for others.
But your right, some more time is needed,to get a good assessment.

yeah considering I can barely get that out of a 7300$ Bolt gun at 100m, aint gonna happen with a gas gun, and amateur shooters. People love to overhype their ability....

Have about 2/3 as much rye as last time, your pulling back too hard, as soon as you said you were drunk I forgave you :p

COME ON PEOPLE!
More pics and range reports please, some high end ammo would be nice. I have $9000 tied up between two other 308 platform non restricted semi's and if someone can show me this will do the same job for way less money selling them becomes sensible. Right now with what I've seen I won't be selling them, maybe one of them and have lots of money left over for reloading supplies. Lol.

well if people want to "put up", i will send jerry @ mystic precision my new unfired kac sr-25aac to shoot against a bcl102 and a mountain hunter. you want a truly unbiased accuracy report on all 3 then this is your chance.

let me know when other owners want to do this.

That's a great offer, do you propose a factory ammo comparison or handloads? If handloads then Jerry would have to do load development for three rifles which could take a while considering he also has a business to run.

I would like to see a few guys with a couple 102's, mix in a couple MH's, and whatever else people around have and just have everyone pitch in a few boxes of ammo then each guy take a turn shooting each rifle with each ammo and take pics of the targets after labeling them to indicate shooter # and ammo type. Real targets with 1 inch markings not pie plates. It would show good averages people could expect to see from their rifle.

I know of three 308 Modern hunters in the Edmonton area plus my 6.5CM and my Krieger barreled Blackfeather M305, if anyone in the area with a 102 or any other 308 based semi wants to play we can try to make something happen at a local range or my buddy's farm east of the city. I'd say my place but that's going to be a lot of shooting one afternoon and my neighbors aren't that far, lol.

I also have a spare Nightforce 3.5-15×50 in a Burris PEPR mount, if we do this I'll either lend it to someone or put it on my M305 and lend out the Burris Verocity 4-20 that's on it to someone if all they have is a red dot or some other low power that would put them at a disadvantage on the 100yd line.

I got a Hunter, I'd come out if I can.

I've ordered a Triggertech for mine. Going to wait till I get it before I put anymore ammo through it. However, if someone in the Nanaimo area (that's a better shot than I am) wants to see what they can do with it, I'm happy to oblige. You gotta supply your own ammo though.

I took mine out again today. Shockingly, and I mean shockingly, it LOVED the cheap 150 grain power point blue box junk. I had a mag loaded with that for some reason and tried it out. 4 holes probably 1-1.5 inches (100yards) and a fifth off a ways, I will attribute that one to me.
Might just be my rifle but was a surprise.
It also enjoyed 178grain amax rounds my buddy had loaded for his 5r. He gave me 3 rounds and they went through 2 holes. I'm not a big proponent of the 3 round group, so we went 5 rounds each, and my group with them was about 1.5 inches.

I'm pretty pleased. I'd like to take it out further. Hopefully this weekend I'll get to take it to a real range.

I'm almost tempted to throw my hat in the ring. I could thing of worse things in life than having a precision rifle professional tune a load for me at not my own expense. I'd be tentatively interested.
