BCRA Tactical rifle championship 2007

and me too please!

Also, for those interested, Friday 7:30pm at my house is the BBQ. I get off work at 7pm so I'll be racing home to flash up heat. the fiance says she might even invite some of her friends (read, cute females, at least I hope it's the cute ones!)

That would be brilliant...:slap: How else do you suppose you will get access to the only 600m range around? Why not get of your arse and get involved to make change happen? The more positions in the BCRA we can fill the better. I don't see anyone chomping at the bit to replace Pitcairn when he steps down as Service rifle director, but there sure as hell are alot of people who whine about how Service rifle is run.

Ya know, that was tongue in cheek:rolleyes:

however...

Campbell River has a 600 m range and I'm on the island more than I'm in Chilliwack. Too, my 1200tx is non restricted so a 600m range is as far away as my rangefinder.

I don't think anyone who knows me would say I laze around 'on my arse' but fyi, my schedule doesn't allow me to be involved in helping the BCRA beyond my yearly membership fee.

With the exception of the year a sniper rifle WITH bipod was allowed to compete for score AND the fact there's no Queen's Medal allocated in THIS province I have no problem with how SR is run and never claimed otherwise, despite persistent rumours about unfair allocation of monies.

...but speaking of 600m ranges in the immediate area,

can someone explain to me how to read the BCRA schedule for Volks...when is it ok to go there to practice? I keep hearing this is possible but can't suss it.

From what I understand, the "practice seesions" are the Belly Gunner practice sessions and you shoot alongside them.

IIRC, there are no "Open" practice sessions................

Are those the Club 300 practices?

Every one of them is in the middle of the week in the middle of the day....do any of these guys have jobs?

As far as I can tell, there is nothing available on weekends....or am I reading it wrong?

Remember Dude, most of the "belly Gunners" are old retired guys with nothing else to do during the week.........................;):p

The Club 300 practices are at Mission R&G on Thursdays starting late afternoon. (3:00 PM).

I think you are SOL for weekends.

So, it looks like we get to 'enjoy' the 'only 600m range around' for a single weekend a year....or find a job that allows you to shoot in the middle of the afternoon in the middle of the week....that's a great schedule and wonderfully accessible to new shooters.

I would be critical of this but as pointed out last week by the LM BCRA Rep, the only appropriate venue for ANY discussion is the AGM, FULL STOP!

Let's hope it's scheduled outside normal working hours.

You know John, I'm sorry if I came across as a dink and nothing I said was directed at you in particular. It is just that since I volunteered to do this job to keep the shoot from dying it is amazing what you see from inside the fish bowl looking out. I am just warped by the amount of people who are wishy washy with their commitment to fixing any of this, yet they are up on the soapbox #####ing at the first sign that something is not going their way.

With regard to using Vokes for practice days, in order to have more frequent practice days it takes more commitment and involvement from those that want them to happen. I don't know anyone who is going to set them up, sign for the range and get the flags, set up the targets just in the hope that somebody may or may not show up that weekend based on what their schedule says. John, I know your issues, this again is not directed at you, you just share many of the same views of others that have e-mailed and phoned me so I am using this post to express my point.

If people want change, step up....the world is run by those that show up.

if you are a full BCRA member there are numerous shoots throughout the year you can shoot at Volkes on weekends. what difference does it make if the PR guys are there? shooting is shooting, you put up the targets you want and shoot them when the line is hot. I fail to see how this is unfair.

This is just a bitmap of the shirts, I am just trying to see if it will display well.

I figured the sponsors are coming through for us by supporting our events, so you guys are returning the favour by being their billboard. These sponsors are proud to sponsor an event like this, which is rare in the PC world in which we currently live. I will be adding to the prize thread early next week as the packages from TSE, Dave's surplus, RUAG, Italian and Hunter's should be showing up. Mil-arm's and DropZone will show up closer to the shoot.
