BCRA Tactical rifle championship 2007

I'm shacked up in a hotel for the night right now but I'd like to thank Mike and crew for the great shoot. High light for me was winning the three gun swim down for the second year in a row with my partner GrensVegter and that anks to Canadian Tactical there is now a cool trophy for the three gun :)

PS... I have a nice little stash of Ruag to try out in my service rifle thanks to TSE :D

42.5hrs with no sleep (well 40 minutes sort of at work Saturday night), I am, needless to say, a little messed up right now. First a big thanks to Mike for this match, he put so much work into this, I don't think everyone really knows just how much. He built the roofs, he got the prizes, he got the scoresheets, he kept his cool (mostly), and did so much, I really don't know if saying "Thanks" is good enough. This was by far the best match yet, and I can hardly wait for the next one. As Skullboy says, thanks Swampy, without your rifle we would've been toast. Another big thanks to Bob and Kay, without them stats would've been impossible I am sure. James ran a tight ship in the butts again, even with 3 markers not showing up today. While we all had some complaints about how our targets went up, or moved, I watched the other relays and it was the same for everyone. I like to think that it adds a but more realisim to the movers and snaps, even if I did ##### about it at the time (I never did get my soother).
I think Rohhan has probably figured out we all full of #### and he wasn't in harms way or anything. It was good to see some new young blood at the match (Scotts daughter(s) too), without these new younger shooters our sport won't survive.
A massive thanks to all the sponsors, there must've been close to $10,000 or more on the prize table. I'm pissed I didn't win the 5.11 watch, but that just means Colin will have to drain more from my bank account in the next couple weeks. I too went home with some RUAG, not sure how much I am going to shoot, and how much will go away for zombies, but I do look forward to trying it out, maybe with my new intimidator muzzle break from Grensvengter (sp).
That's all from me for now, I hope it makes sense as I've retyped the above about 10 times already as my sleep deprivation typing skills are a bit lame.
again thanks Mike, good job, you should be very very proud.

oh and thanks Bob and Kay for bringing my pistol bag down for me after I left in the shack. oooooppppps.

I agree it was a Great Shoot and well run I thought. I only shot Sunday and I Did not do to good!:runaway!
However I would not want to miss it again because it was A lot of fun and I always learn something new!
Its always a honor to be able to shoot with, and learn from the guys that know and there is a LOT of knowledge out there. I appreciated all the help I got from the guys that shot around me and gave a hand spotting for me and taught me some good stuff!, And sharing there firing spots Friday & Sunday and Bean Bag!:) Next up more practice And Both days next time!:dancingbanana:

For those who did not attend, as well as those that did, this match was top shelf!!

First, BIG THANKS TO MIKE COOK :dancingbanana: Mike, as everyone has already mentioned, put on a great match and is just a great guy to boot. The amount of work he put into this match was incredible. Hats off to Mike!!!!!

If your thinking about getting into this sport, are into it and have not tried this match, get off your behind and book holidays for next year. There is lots of experience to be gained from participating.

The group of shooters this year was great.

Slavex and Skull boy are a scary combo, some skills there, thats for sure.

You must be some tired, that was me you were talking to. I took the bag to Laszlo to give to you.

Another congrats to Mike on putting on a great shoot. Fist time for me shooting competition and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's truely nice to see the younger people getting involved including the cadets working the target butts. I can remember being a youngster working the targets out at Heals range in Victoria for a summer games....got me hooked. I definately will be back again next year.

oooh I meant for them giving you the bag after finding it Mike.. yeah I was pretty tired, slept almost 13 hours.

First off, another huge round of applause for PH Mike. From my perspective as a first-time competitor, it ran very smoothly and was way too much fun, although it obviously was a tremendous amount of work for all involved.
Also thanks to Skullboy and Slavex for keeping me entertained and giving me some good ideas during my eavesdropping on their spotting for each other ;) I shot like an uber-ninja on Sunday in large part due to their tips, too bad I wallowed in mediocrity on Sat and sunk myself there.
Thanks to VBull for making me a laser beam of a gun.
Lastly, thanks to Johnl for filling in as my shooting partner having never met me until a few minutes before the festivities began. I'll definitely be back next year.

Great shoot, thanks for putting it on Mike.

PS... I've never seen so many gun and ammo problems in my life, might have had something to do with the rain but that can't be all. Problems that I noticed:

- two squib loads resulting in bullets stuck in barrels
- one broken bolt handle with live round in chamber
- one bolt stop failure where to bolt came away from the rifle while it was being cycled
- one broken bipod
- one blown extractor due to over pressured load (water in chamber?)
- also at least two other incidences of over pressured chambers/blown primers

Having said that I should point out that I was the main rifle/load malfunction screw up last year so I'm not pointing fingers just observing

I didn't take many pics but here is what I have:

oh for ####s sake you're BC guy? DON'T tell me that or anything you asshat!
of course we were listening in on Swampy and Rico (what the hell is his username here again?), so anything you heard from us, came from them first, and they probably knew we were listening and changed what they said loud enough for us to hear simply to screw with us (not).
That rifle Ed sold you is a freakin dream gun. your 600m score proves that. just shoot straight down the middle, and bam 110. Ed is one of the best guys to deal with, period. He sells quality gear, backs it 100% and knows his stuff. We are planning on doing some S&D type shoots with him possibly in the next few monthts. 100m to start and then work out further as time and range access allow.

Had a great time thanks to Mike. Did an outstanding job.
And to all the rest of you that were there, thanks. It was a pleasure to meet you. Thanks to my partner who carried me through the match on Sunday, LOL we did not come in last, hey, and bonus I got a prize, Kewl. Hey Slavex remember if you come by my way give me a call.
Until next time.

Roger that Larry.

Did anyone see my Oakley hat? It's gone now too, god I was so tired on Sunday.
I bought one of Ed's bags, man those things make a huge difference at distance!

All that I can offer is the "after" pic of the plaque and 200 rounds of RUAG 63gr 5.56 ammo I won with my partner Slavex.

-Fourth place overall out of 25 teams
-Second place in Civilian Class

Thx to TSE for the generous donation of the RUAG ammo (2000 rounds in total), and all the other businesses that donated and supported the match!!!!

And a VERY BIG thx to PH Mike for putting on an OUTSTANDING match!!!!!!!:dancingbanana::dancingbanana::dancingbanana::dancingbanana::dancingbanana:

Looking forward to nexts years match...............:D

Anyone have pics of myself and Slavex???We both neglected to bring cameras..............

SKBY.

I've seen one pic of me and you. It's the one with the anti-rape/shooting mat between us for the off the shoulder shoot.

I got back to Calgary on Monday in time to clean up and head to work. I've downloaded the pics but still have to resize and post. I took quite a few.

This was my first time attending this match and I was amazed. The group of guys that showed up were all there for the same reasons; to have fun, shoot some great scores and swap stories and info. The people that need to be thanked I think already have been, so thanks again everyone for putting on a great shoot.
I was running a JAE stocked Norc and it was the wrong gun for this match. I've already sold it and am starting to put together the build list of components for next year so count me in. I can definitely say, I learnt a lot at the shoot and I met a lot of great people. Over this next year I'll be promoting this event so look forward to more people coming and bigger prizes for next year.

Here are some more pics, With all the camo out there I feel a little red neckish with my Cobble Hill dinner jacket attire. Sorry Noel I wasn't prepared for the shoot, hunting scope and s**tty reloads. Worse performance of my life, will do better next year:redface: still had fun, it was neat to see all the hardware out there. Special thanks to Mike for all the hard work to make it possible. Met some interesting folks, Slavex and Skullboy to name a few:p

Don't worry, I have:). Sorry for missing the barbeque, I was with the other guys and we ate at Earl's pretty early and decided to go pick up junk from Safeway and Can-Tire (in a way I was somewhat glad I side-stepped it as I don't think some of the things described would have been a pleasant experience :p).
First off, many, many thanks to Mike for putting on by far the most fun shoot I've ever been to, as well as putting up with my crap and coaching me for months beforehand, it's much appreciated. Thank you very much.
Big thanks to all the prize-donators, there was a lot of really awesome kit there! Thanks to all the cadets as well, they did very, very well. They were willing to work outside in the rain for little pay so that we could more enjoy the shoot.
Big thanks to Fozzy for loading all my ammo for me so that I didn't have to shoot the Winchester crap, as well as the other guys for letting me tag along with them. It's much appreciated!
Lastly, thanks for all you guys who have put up with my ignorance over the last long while, as well as always answering questions and helping me out, and convincing me to come to the shoot. I will most definately be there next year! It was also good to finally meet some of you guys. Who knows, when I finally get my PAL I might show up for other shoots as well. I definately learned a lot (especially that trying to single-feed my rifle from my coat pocket in the sitting position when everything is wet is quite difficult and not recommended at all)!

Many thanks,
-Rohann
