I know its only mid January but has anyone heard any rumblings regarding this year. With the last 2 being cancelled, hope things change this year and it goes ahead.

I was at the AGM and it will indeed go ahead. From what I understand it will most likely go back to the 3 day format. 1 sight in day and 2 shooting days which is probably more manageable for people especially those with families and holidays during the summer. I believe Ed is still waiting for dates to be confirmed by those that make the dates for Volkes.

So I know the dates are June 13-15 for this match this year. Back to the 3 day format and not on a holiday weekend. Any more info Ed? Sounds like we start at 600m on day one and work out way in? Very cool idea if you ask me! I'm in for sure.

Thats great, I am off that weekend as well. Made it out for 09 and 10. Would like to see the crse of fire as well. I think you will get plenty of participants this yr with the 3 day format and the fact that its not on the July long weekend.

Excellent!Yes I really need to shoot this match again. Been way to long to not shoot the best precision rifle match in Canada! I expect with the 3 day format back it will sell out like it used to. Looking forward to it!

Hello All,

Thank you Longshot for posting and for acting as a sounding board I do appreciate your time and input .

In the interest of efficient time management There will be some changes to scoring, challenges , and relay changes as follows ( the more time we save the more shooting we can do)

1) as target is rested competitor will be cleared off line and next relays shooter will fill into position immediately regardless of wether current relay is finished ( competitor will not be allowed to shoot until his entire relay is on mound and Butts has changed all relay targets )
2) targets will be scored and replaced as target position is rested regardless of relays total completion of stage -fall of shot will NOT be indicated for shooters . All competitors specific targets will be available to shooters to keep and review at days end any discrepancy in score math must be brought to the attention of an official before officials retire for evening ( mistakes can and will happen it is the competitors responsibility to review his or her targets for correctness )
3) scores will be radioed back to " line stats officer" by "Butts stats officer " score will be relayed to competitors during following stage by "line stats officer" - when ready "lines stats officer" will raise flag and shooters if not all ready occupied with shooting can approach and be given their scores and at that time request a challenge 1 challenge free every additional challenge $5.00 ( refunded if score reflects a positive adjustment )
4) if a challenge occurs the Butts will sequester target and bring target to match director/ match committee and competitor to resolve dispute At the END of the days events and all challenges will be resolved before officials retire for evening, unless special circumstances encountered No challenges will be considered from the previous evening the following morning -again with time management being the concern

Also expect or prepare for a " noise stimulus/ stresser" on any stage

Regards
Ed

P.S. Anyone wishing to help with match please feel free to contact me as we can always use the help when and where we can find it ....thank you in advance

ooooh, I like the sound of that! How about chemicals??????? Maybe some OC spray wafting across the line???????

Hello Slavex,

Yeah..my experience has been there is was an over abundance of naturally produced Gas already, no need to add anything to get a flight stimulus

Hello friends. I'm glad to see this great match is with us again. Looking forward to another great event.

I see that most of the issues that plagued previous events have been dealt with, but I would like to make an observation and a suggestion.

During the last 2-day event in 2010 (which our friend Longshot missed because he was busy winning major awards elsewhere) we managed to shoot 9 out of the proposed 11 courses of fire. That was using the old, very slow scoring system, which looks to now have been improved. My concern is that the proposed shooting/scoring system will be so improved that we will actually finish each days work too quickly. To address that I have a suggestion.

I would keep the proposed course of fire as it currently published, however, I would also be prepared to add on additional stages if time permits. My suggestion would be to keep the 300m stages that have been used in previous matches as backups, so that if on the first day we finished too early, we could just continue on at 300, or if on the second day we were too efficient we would again find ourselves at 300m.

My choices for those additional 300m stages would be:

F.I.B.U.A. ( Fighting in built up areas ) would be my first choice. This one stage, I believe, requires the most coordination between the shooter and spotter of any of the stages and is the one I would miss most.

Old School ( using a sling instead of a bipod ). In both 2010 and 2011 we dropped this stage because of time pressure. I think it would be nice to try fitting it in if we can.

I'm sure others can come up with suggestions for what they would like to see.

Again, I look forward to the match and expect this one to be well attended. Get the word out.
