BCRA - Vokes Range impressions - photos

Disagree.

Match fees at Connaught are not a thousand dollars (though the cost of the whole 7-9 days of shooting will exceed $1000, when food accommodation and ammo are added in). The recently introduced F-Class National Championship (>200 shots) is much more affordable in time (3 days) and money ($350 match fee), hopefully shooters will make that a success.

Shooting a major national match at Connaught is expensive, for a whole variety of reasons, but the price of the facilities is not one of them; the amount of the entry fees that goes to pay for the range is $0.

$350 is still BS. I don't know of any other match in Canada that costs that much and since when did they start supplying ammo to belly benchers out there. DCRA has been overpriced for as long as I can remember

The recent Western F Class Championship Match cost $350.00. Some lucky people left with several times that amount in the value of the prizes they won. Even for those that did not win anything, having your targets pulled and scored for 3 days costs something. Lots of shooters showed up and nobody complained about the match fee.

Beautiful range pics.Wish it were closer,I'd move in for the summer...
Kinda forgot what green looks like on a range with this heat and drought here in Ont.
Those tall rocky things in the background are pretty nice too :) Sure do miss the days I lived in those hills.
I believe every range I've shot on and have access to would have to be "my favorite" and am always looking forward to being introduced to new ones.
The reality of developing a private/public 1000m range even with a 99 year crown buck-a-year lease is quite cost prohibitive. But I'm all for someone (else) to crunch the numbers and if they find it feasible go for it.
It's being done to a degree here in Ontario with Keith and Linda building the Milcun Range and school.
Maybe when we get some rain and our little range greens back up,I'll post a pic or two. Can't compete with the Rockies, but we do have a nice little treed hill.(TCRC)

Last comment...if you don't like the fees for 2 or 3 days of competition on a world class
range, you are always welcome not to attend. However we do WELCOME all comers.

Again the same damn complaint . A shorter F Class National event separated from the CFRC is developed to comply with the complaints of too expensive and too long and still we hear some silly groaning.
The CFRC and now the CFCN on Connaught ranges have always been a GOOD VALUE for the buck when you see just what all costs factored in are.
As far as 2nd class treatment by DCRA or anyone involved in matches there (workers and ALL competitors alike) I call BS to that one. Been there often enough to call it.
Sorry for the little sidetrack...we were admiring beautiful ranges......

Gord;

Some people just complain...and when they do it enough....I consider it chronic.....

Looking forward to catching up in Ottawa.

Please keep Don on the straight and narrow until I get there....LOL

The new F-Class Nationals are now on it's own. No longer at the same time as the TR shooters. And as far as the costs go, top end matches cost money to run. Prizes or not, it's expensive.
