if im not a hunter i geuss i dont have to buy a licence anymore or apply for leh just like the rest of you "hunters" have to, goose get a life i dont know you may or may not be a better hunter then me but im 100% more of a man that you can ever hope to be, i dont go around picking on people because i have a bad life (i dont). I am damn well a hunter and don't you forget it i may not have as much experience as some of you but that doesnt make me not a hunter or a bad hunter at that, now i kindly request you leave me alone.

Gatehouse, usually. Works great. Just don't let him bathe for a few days. Especially effective in the mating season :)

Baiting is utterly illegal for bears here bud, even scents and lures are out. The traditional method is to find areas where there's scat, take a look at the cut blocks, find somewhere to hole up down wind and pull out the binocs. When you spot one - start stalking. If the wind is on your side, he'll never see you coming if you go slow and dont' make a racket.

Sometimes you spot one from the road. It's not surprising - there are about 200,000 black bears and climbing around these parts. Heck, there's 50,000 on the island alone for those who go there. but usually it DOES take a little smarts to find a good one, and because you're down in the crap with them, its common to be fairly close but not have a shot for quite a while.

Mostly its an 'easy' hunt because of the time of year - no snow, no cold weather, much simpler gear needed than a fall moose hunt for example. Lots of fun. But that'd be the same for you guys if you ever get your spring hunt back.

my point put in better words by a cool mod:D

. but how would you hunt if most of the area is owned

Same way everyone else does i expect.

We see this all the time guys - people grow up in an area and learn the rules as they apply to that part of the world. Often they never think that the rest of the world is different. That leads to some unfortunate comments around here sometimes. I've been chewed out for shooting birds on the ground with a 22, and god knows baiting bears has had its' detractors over the years too.

You gotta be patient a little when you see that folks, lots of hunters out there (many who have hunted for years and years) who have firm ideas about 'ethics' that don't apply in different places. Education is the best solution. Like i said, we're not here to slag each other right?

Moose and I have already had a little chat about this, and now i'm going to remind everyone else to keep it civil. There's enough people out there who want to attack us, we don't need to do it ourselves. If you want a fight, go post your latest kill pics on babble :)

hey moose if you can scrounge the air fare and cover your expenses with tags and licences i will gladly host a bear hunt for you this or any other bears season and i will supply the bait but you will have to do all the work i do to prepare for opening week. you will need the month of augest and at least 2 weeks in sept off of school. i garuntee you will change your opinions on baiting and you might learn a thing or 2

well yes its true we cannot bait bears in BC but I do know from a relative afar that a gunnysack with bananas and molasses works rather well hanging from a tree , as for bear hunting and I think I can speek for Moosehunter as well we can go out any given evening and count 20-30 bears in our area without even trying so baiting here would be a waste of time IMHO
