The x39 is only effective in a bolt gun. In the SKS it is woefully underpowered.

If you manage to teach a bear to use a rifle, would the canadian government not prohibit them from using firearms to defend themselves just like us regular humans?

Mrs. Betty Wendle is one I know of. Wasn't 100 years ago but admittedly, it was a while back. Her choice, and used effectively on a number of occasions, was a 99 Savage in 22 Savage High Power.

Looks like a sporterized Swiss Schmidt Rubin 1889, neat, and a fairly good choice.

hey Phil .... All is know it was the late 60s and the bear was raiding the camp causing problems. Our moose camp is between Hearst and Longlac in Northern Ontario. My younger brother owns the camp today. Dad was not one to shoot a bear for sport so this one must have been causing quite a ruckus.
