Bear Defense?

OK YOU GUYS JUST DON'T GET IT.
I don't know what kind of bears you have. But these bears don't hibernate.
They crave blood and have an uncontrollable urge to kill!
And I need to defend myself!
I fought one off like half an hour ago. MY FEARS WERE JUSTIFIED.
S.O.B. was millin' around my garbage. Just waiting for the chance to strike.
I went ballistic. It looked over at me; slowly. I screamed from the lowest part of my bowels and opened fire. It was so stressful that of my 50 round drum,
ar15 I missed every shot. The bear then rushed me. I dive rolled to my left and pulled out my kukri and went to town on the beast.
DOWNWARD SLASH!
DOWNWARD SLASH!

the bear then reared up on its hind legs.
BACKFLIP KICK TO VICTORY!
MADNESS HERO!
Let that be a lesson to you about the seriousness of bear attacks

You need a 16.3" barrel. The velocity lost on a 16" is too much. You have to be careful of the overpenetration issue as you stated expeciallly if you're going full auto without a compensator. The alloy of your bullets is critical, that's why I cast and load my own. I trust nobody else with my life in such a dangerous situation.
This happened nearby, you can never be too careful, this is no joke people!

I can't believe it myself.
I'm just lucky the Mama bear wasn't around.
The cub was hard enough; I don't think I could've beaten her too!
It will be fine, dismount the horse shoot it in the legs and run like he'll, you should be able to outrun the horse just fine, especially with a 100 km headstart. Bird shot will work if that's all you have, i would tie the horse to a tree before shooting it.

Tactical Tassels! Why didn't my bear defence book cover that? I tried to order the jacket pattern but GeckoDefenceShop.com was sold out...
Do you guys think I should make the tassels out of multi-cam para-cord or razorwire?
You guys are way over-thinking this.
1) Buy 10/22. Get the SS one, the barrel will look good hanging over you front door when you:
2) Replace it with a 12" fluted jobbie - you will need the kwick handling and the extra cooling.
3) Get a composite tac-style stock. MUST-HAVE, so that :
4) you need two (minimum!) optics, including a SWAT-style scope, and a red laser, a green laser, a couple flashlights, and a bipod mount. Better if you sling a paintball grenade launcher under it, too - so you can mark 'em up for later if you miss with the first mag.
5) make sure your scope is a sniper one, because you did mention the 100km kill-shot that may be required.
6) ONLY use sub-sonic rounds. Like you said, the mom may be around somewhere.
7) the dual-50 round setup looks mad tite - I gotta get me some of that action.
Remember: practice, practice, practice. You've got the sub-sonics, so you can do it in your backyard. Or you front yard. Squirrels, mice, girl scouts (I'll take ALL you cookies, you little BAM BAM BAM), the neighbour's dog, whut evs.
