I just received a Boyd's Tacticool stock for my Savage Mk II heavy barrel and would like to bed it. I have never done this before but have been doing some reading to hopefully familiarize myself with the process.
I just took my Mk II out of it's factory (also a Boyd's stock) stock and have confirmed that it will drop into the Tacticool once Savage sends me the correct action screws and trigger guard.
Here's my problem. The channel in the stock that everything fits into it quite thin and snug. Also, being that it's a 22Lr the barrel and action aren't very wide either. There just doesn't seem like a whole lot of surface to apply bedding compound onto apart from the edges of the stock. The underside of the action is actually quite crowded with bolts etc.
The other problem is that there are no pillars built into the stock.
Suggestions?
