beeswax

What is beeswax used for? Was going to start keeping this year, and have never heard of a gun-related application. Very cool to hear, though. Thx

Aside from the uses mentioned above, it is a fantastic water proofer for leather gloves and shoes. Some guys will also use it on cotton/canvas pants for upland bird hunting.
Don't use it on goretex lined leather boots it will clog the material.

when you come up with a good idea to cut it up:).
I'm thinking a sharp wide chisel with a sledge hammer or a splitting axe with a sledge hammer , what say you?

You guys are talking about that boat keel correct? Not wax.

My first go at extracting beeswax from hive frame cappings.

Strange colour eh. Looks more like cheese or butter or something?

I may have found a supply of free beeswax! Got the cappings from a cousin who can't be bothered with the wax aspect.

Talk to bee keepers and the 2nd's bees wax goes for much cheaper. 20 lbs for 25 bucks. The crud in it goes to the bottom of the pot when melted. It has bee parts and pieces in it.
Why clean bees wax is so expensive is it is used by the pharmaceutical companies as a carrier for creams. The stuff with too much chemical residue is sold for other uses.

Use a piece of PVC pipe and a dowel for your mold..

Here she is. My bullet lube mold. My Magma Star uses solid sticks so I didn't have to putz with the dowel.

Those 1” ID plastic nipples just happen to screw into a 1 1/4” hole slick as can be. How lucky is that!

And how lucky is it to just happen to have a 1 1/4” drill bit! Unheard of, that never happens.

Now to decide on a lube recipe and try it out.

Mine has all the crud in the bottom 1/4 inch. But it cost $20 for 25 lbs.
