Bell and Carlson vs McMillan

Had my McMillan edge let go at the front screw/recoil lug, 300 win mag 180s at 3150. Kman on here also had one break shooting 300 win/200’s. McMillan guarantees up to 300 win mag recoil levels for the edge fill, i was obviously over that. They replaced it no questions asked and asked if I wanted to upgrade the lug area with magnum fill, extra 3 ounces would put the stock at 28oz. I said no thanks. My loads are backed of to 2950 and will see if it makes it another 5 years. Got a buddy with a wildcat on a lightweight 300rum, no issues for past 12 years. The edge fill stocks are probably better suited to 7 mag and down recoil level.

Wildcat has fiberglass /carbon fiber on both the inside and the outside of the stock ,McM's only on the outside and cheezie fill on the inside .I have repaired a few with bedding failure buy removing the fill and using kevlar long strand in the bedding area and mag well.
 
I have an Edge that’s cracked at both pillars, it was on a 308 Win so not a banger. Haven’t sent it in but will eventually. My experiences with B&C have been positive, they are heavy but quite robust and certainly miles ahead of any OEM stock, they are also priced right and readily available. I’ve custom ordered 3 McMillans and while they’ve been pretty good, I’ve never felt like the level of performance/fit/finish matched what they cost.

MacMillan is known for their warranty and they'll actually be around in 5 years to back that warranty.
 
I’ve owned oodles of the bloody things and never used their warranty. However, I have seen their annual warranty numbers and you have a better chance of a Russian Satellite landing in your corn flakes than needing to use it.

Sorry, I don't know. I've never needed to warranty any of the few I own, and don't know anyone this side of the border, first hand, who has. If it was a major repair or wreck, I wouldn't be surprised if they just shipped up a brand new stock. But who knows? I sure hope to never find out. ;)
