Hi all

Here is a project I am making for a guy here who needed a stock for his benchrest rifle. The action is a Gaulin, shilen trigger, and the barrel I have no idea, but it is chambered in 30BR. I am using laminated wood. It is the light color barreled action on this pic.

I started by cutting into the blank

Laminating 2 pieces to get a thickness

Routing for the barrel, and recoil lug, and screw hole to fit pillar.

I am making a stock for my Savage Axis in 223 at the same time, more on that later

That's it for now, stay tune for the last pics when the topcoat will be applied.

Hope you like it !

Nice work. I bought a router recently to work on my own stock projects.

What did you use for the laminate material? Is it aircraft grade birch ply or a firearms specific laminate? Where did you source the stain used?

Thanks,
Mark

Nice Work :)

I was wondering if you could give me a couple of dimensions.

Whats the measurement between Lina A and Line B and between Line C and D and how thick is it back by the trigger area from one side to the other.

Thanks

The red stock is for a 22lr winchester 52 IIRC. A to B is 2 5/8, and C to D is 1 3/4

bobfortier: Do you do these for customers or just for yourself? If for customers could you pm me an approx cost for one like those?

Thanks

Forgot this detail. The stock, once finished, will weight a bit less than 4 pounds. It could be made lighter by removing material under the barrel and inside the buttstock.

I don't think this was answered yet, but what kind of wood are you using? Also, does the wood produce the different colors through out the stock, or is it the application process?
