Benelli MR-1 factory guaranteed accuracy?

So as the title states is anyone aware of a factory guaranteed claim of accuracy from Benelli and their MR-1 rifle.

I remember reading about a factory guarantee of 2MOA with respect to the Benelli MR-1 rifle somewhere (likely here on CGN) and now have been unable to locate any such evidence; am I dreaming or is this a reality.

Also while were at it if any of you have actually sat down (or laid) and shot a MR-1 for accuracy would you please offer up your accuracy experiences with this rifle and at what distance, with what optic and ammo. brand/type.

I remember Caramel on here doing some testing and finding that it liked some of the heavier Berger bullet loads, but because of the thinner barrel it did heat up fairly quickly and groups opened up.

It's kinda funny because even though it's a nose heavy gun already, looking at the barrel profile and where the gas system sits (and the respective diameters at gas block, in front and behind), there is NO reason they couldn't make a heavier barrel version of the MR1 a little more suited to varmint shooting and accuracy...

Consider this a bump for first-hand information though.
 
Sorry no first hand experience here either. But last year I was seriously considering picking up one so did a lot of research. I came to the conclusion it was a very reliable rifle but also an inaccurate one, relative to the price. Not much more accurate than a VZ-58 in .223 but for almost twice the price. As mentioned in the previous post, the first few shots are good but it quickly opens up to 3 or 4 moa.
 
Thanks F22_Raptor and Circling Vulture your replays are a appreciated. Mine somewhat mirror your thoughts/conclusion Circling Vulture regarding the accuracy/reliability of the MR-1, really just hoping the accuracy is better.

F22_Raptor do you remember if Caramels groups were MOA?

Anyone else with some experience with the MR-1 care to speak up?

I Jusy picked one up and have mounted my scope and just sighted it in. I am going the range this weekend and can let you know how it shoots. I only have American eagle bulk .233 ammo at this time. I will take some pics of the groupings and post them.

With my petload 77 gr Lapua Scenar the MR-1 is MOA easy sometimes a lot better, but the thin barrel rob you of the accuracy within 10 shots, after a short cooling period it's all good again, very reliable rifle with a huge fun factor since the LAR mag can be used...

The rifle in the picture is now north of 6K shots with less than a handfull of failures and not a single mecanical issue... Great buy... JP.

Are you using hand loads ? What is you recipe ? What have you found to work? I have various powders and am going to start loading for it over the winter.

I fire my MR1's with Press Check and Alexander Arms Beowulf mags. The press check mags fail to engage the bolt catch after the last round, but they all feed properly and drop free.

Great news Caramel, should I assume this was done with a 20" barrelled rifle and with what optic please?

Did you encounter any MOA or close to MOA accuracy (sub 2" groups) with decent factory ammo. or with match production ammo.? Regardless I'm happy to here of your success with not only the accuracy potential, but also on the firearms reliability.


Wanting a NR .223, the Benelli MR-1 checks off all of the boxes on my want list; accuracy was the only concern I've had.

Shouldering the standard (non-telescoping) pistol gripped stock model just feels so right to me, I may just have to pick one of these up for a fun back country shooter.

I'm very curious to see how she'd do stretching her legs out past 300+M.
The only restricted ranges close to me max. out at 200Yds., which can make for a disappointing day when wanting to reach out past 300+M with an AR.

P.S. As for the magazine comments by Circlingvulture and Jube, I'd be running ATRS 10Rd. pistol mag.'s only in this bad boy if/when I pick one up.

20 inch barrel and a regular Zeiss 3X9 is the set up for the last 4 years, it's perfect, i did hunt coyotes in winter with it, and i have a couple success pass 300 yards with it, for factory ammo, the 45 gr WWB was pretty amazing in it, giving me near MOA performance 1-1.5 MOA, the Hornady 52 gr Match is pretty good to, it seem the regular 55 gr is not giving more than 2-2.5 MOA... JP.

All Caramel's groups are either MOA or better. I've shot one out to 600m. It was at best a 1.5MOA rifle. It liked lighter bullets in the 55-70grain range. 77 SMKs and Lapuas were a 4 MOA disaster. Reliability is top notch, and every mag I tried worked perfect. I tried PCV, AA, PMags, Elander, Troy, ASC. I don't find it to be front heavy at all, very easy to hit a 10" plate every time at 100m from standing.
 
Thanks Tenguns and Forest1488 the more info. the better (especially nice when it's positive input). Yeah Caramel is a good shot, but that just comes with correct procedures and practice.

The mr1 has always been in my wish list. I've had an xcr and I have a tavor now. I always knew the mr1 would be the most accurate, this just confirmed it. I'd also trust it's reliablility.

I think the only factory that keeps it from dominating the non restricted black market is its lack of aftermarket accessories and optics mounting/ cheek weld issues. I can't comment directly but I still want one. It's much cheaper than an xcr or tavor and just as functional.
 
The rifles that dont really shines are less interresting to talk about but many need some work and when they get around the MOA mark are interresting to talk about...
I have rifles that are limited to 2-2.5 MOA ( like my XRC-M ) i never post pictures or talk about them since the precision is average at best... JP.

Yes that seems to be true, very accurate rifles are more interesting to show and discuss. We Canadians really appreciate a good MOA Black rifle or any rifle for that matter.;)
