I am interested to know if anyone has "built" a MR1. Are their any aftermarket barrels or other accessories to really change the character of the rifle? Just what is possible?
Seems like the best non-restricted option for the dollar. Let's see some examples!
 
There are a few guys on here with pretty sweet looking MR1s but I don't think they are as crazy upgradable as the ar type rifles.

I am trying to get a few parts together for mine now, Just a simple Coyote rifle.

Not to thread hijack but does anyone know for a rail mount bipod that won't break the bank, that isn't crap,to attach to the trirail.
 
here is a pic, not really a build, but with some tacticool jazz on it back when I had an MR1.

There isn't really anything available to change any core items...like stocks, grips, barrels, forends etc. MR1 isn't really that rifle, you can dump stuff ONTO it though.

The MR-1 dont really need any upgrades if you dont want to, but the one of Chuck 3436 is very well upgrade, i think their signature is more their superb accuracy and asthonishing reliability... Cheers. JP.
 
Well I know Benelli offers three stocks for it and I realize that it can be accessorized with the tri-rail.
I guess I am more curious as to whether anyone has shortened a barrel or added a flash-hider.
Also which aftermarket magazines work best.

I'd really like to see a 18.5" threaded barrel on a half MR1, half R1 in .308. The "tactical" look of the MR1 and the "practical" calibers offered in the R1.
 
.223 is practical, just ask a Coyote.

The whole reason I bought a mr1 is so I didn't have to "jazz" it up. It is fine right outta the box.
I love looking at other peoples builds, but i am pretty lame with my own gear.
 
For a bipod option that won't kill the bank, you can get a picitanny rail attachment for harris bipods, then put one of their bipods on, but of course you would need the tri rail.

I have seen a Flash hider on one, but it isn't necessary. There are few things I would do to the MR1 because it was built with functionality and ergonomics in mind. It's not blocky like an AR. Honestly, through on some optics, and if it fancies you, but on a bipod a light and a laser. I think a lot of people get the MR1 because they want a non-restricted black rifle that isn't crap, and still performs well as a hunting rifle.

My plans on mine is to put a 1-4 scope on so I can have something that can be tactical, yet still be used for coyotes out a couple hundred yards. I will put on the bipod, again for coyotes, and I have a shurefire light that I acquired, that needs a home, so it will be on my gun when I am not hunting.

I'm going to wait and get what the MR1 should have been in the first place.

The Beretta ARX 160. It'll be a few years but there will eventually be a civilian version. All the good things with the MR1, none of the flaws.

I totally agree. But according to reports from the Shot Show, the commercial version will be available in Canada before year's end.
 
The only upgrade the MR! really needs, is a barrel, as I've read (haven't seen one in flesh..or should I say in synethic?) that the stock barrel is too thin, wouldn't hold up to a high rate of fire (IE: dumping rounds down range)

You would be surprised sir, last summer i tested it with 4 lar-15 mag (40 rounds extra rapid fire) and the fifth one of 10 shots, i was able from the bag to group in 1.5 inch ( all 10 shots) with no stringing at all, these pencil thin cryogenic barrels are just great... Cheers. JP.

Hmm interesting.
It still doesn't change my opinion on them. What are they good for? If you want a tactical looking rifle for 'yote hunting, that's about it, and that's because I'm an advocate for hunting coyotes with semis.
 
I guess it could make a good yotes rifle, accuracy would be up there at 400 metres it was easy to hold 6 inchs groups with Scenars 77 gr, i even did a 4.2 inch@ 400 metres, i just think it is deadly accurate and full reliable, i dont ask much more of a rifle... Cheers. JP.

Jes@s F that thing looks horrid! And I thought the MR-1 was ugly...wow, that takes 'er a step further.
