It really is a quality gun and handles very nicely. You'd never know it weighs as much as the stats say it does. Benelli makes quality, and there is no exception w/ the MR1. It's basically the Beretta RX4 Storm police carbine. Ignore the AR purists who slag it off.
A cautionary note though: the MR1 and the Lucid HD7 holographic sight are not very compatible. I put a Lucid on recently and all of a sudden I was having failure to eject problems...a shock after, oh, 400+ rounds of flawless functioning. The problem comes from the right-sided, giant nuts (insert jokes here) on the built-in rail mount. It seems that they get in the way of the casings as they eject and cause stovepiping. This isn't surprising when you look at the receiver and the position of the ejection port on the MR1.
I took the gun into Italian Sporting Goods (where I purchased it) and the gunsmith tried to reposition the sight so that it wouldn't interfere w/ ejection. It improved, but I was still getting failures to eject. Put the old ultradot red dot back on, mounted on Weaver rings, and just fired almost 100 rounds today w/out a hitch. It's back to its old reliable self...
NB: I'm not knocking Lucid; the HD7 is a great sight, especially for the money...just not w/ the MR1.
