The MR1 is an awsome shooter, here a 5 shots group at 100 metres with 52 gr Match... JP.

They fixed it. All it cost me was shipping. The rifle kind of lost it's lustre for me after that though. One of the reasons I was interested in the rifle was because of its supposed 100% reliability.

Maybe I'm the odd man out but id take the T97 if you could ask whoever was giving it to you to add the FTU... in which case the gun would still cost almost $500 less than the MR1. Add a decent optic and you'd STILL have money left over for some ammo.

Many people hate the T97 strictly because its a Norc... and yet an equal number of people praise norc products for being well built albeit not well finished. Ive owned 4 T97's and all performed flawlessly with cheap surplus ammo and all were more than accurate enough for an SHTF situation out to 100 yards with a decent optic. I will accept the stock irons on the T97 suck though. So if an FTU (which is far from a bubba job) is included it would be my choice.

I second That. I had awesome groups with 52gr match bullets. But now i use 70grain VLD and 69gr SMK. I have had my Benelli MR1 out to 500m and Scored well at the shoot in Chilliwack this last year. I was Using the 69gr SMK.

Light bullets work well in this gun, but cant seem to get consistent groups with 55gr VMAX. Don't be afraid to try a heavier bullet. It does have a 20" 1:9 twist Barrel

Have shot both. Own a t97. One is a pick-up truck. The other a luxury sedan. Neither would be much good for racing. Both will get you from A to B ...

Are you looking for a utility vehicle or a nice ride?

My MR1 has about 3500 rounds through it, 99% Norc ammo. The only issue I had was a broken magazine plate position tab, Stoeger sent me two new ones for free. That could've happened from me ramming the LAR mags in too hard, who knows. Either way, it didn't affect function, I just noticed it was broken when cleaning once.
It gets abused as it's my main coyote gun and lives in the truck, on the ATV and on the snowmobile. It gets cleaned once in the spring. I wouldn't even consider a Norinco to replace it.

I can't believe you guys are comparing the MR1 to Chinese crap :(

Agree ! Although the MR1 has its quirks and is not my cup of tea , I have shot the MR1 and a 97. The MR1's quality blows away the 97 and in the accuracy department the 97 doesn't even come close. People ##### about the ergos on the MR1 , these same people should try the 97 , they would really see what BAD ergos are!

I fail to see the problems that some guys keep #####ing about the T97,like others have said its a well balanced rifle,I find it comfortable to shoot,as does my 9 year old daughter, and anyone else I have let fire it.
I deffo would not go as far as to call it Chinese crap,it is a well built rifle.
There will also be the anti Chinese mob that will just never be pleased with Chinese rifles,if you don't like them, simply don't buy them!

I wouldn't take it too hard as neither rifle is beloved. The Benelli has a lot of detractors due to it's ergos, looks and shotgun roots while the T97 mainly attracts the ire of the "hate anything made in China" crowd.
