Just got one of these things. Was hoping it would be what Beretta pictured.

As I understand it, the big features are:

1. Improved trigger
2. Improved lifter
3. MLok Handguard
4. Longer mag tube

Based on what I see so far, it looks like we just got the improved trigger and lifter only.

Is this like a Canadian thing where we get butchered down versions of the US products? I guess the tube extension may be C21-related? I thought that round limiter was for detachable mags, not tube mags, unless it's due to the semi-auto nature of the action.

I also don't get why they would not have included the MLOK handguard/foreend - that seems to be part of the allure in getting this.

Otherwise, this is essentially a 1301 Gen 2 more than a Mod 2.

Am I misunderstanding something here?

Semi-auto centerfire=5 rounds. Kinda takes the allure out of a semi-auto shotgun, for me anyway.
I see. So that's why you can have elephant trunk extensions mag tubes on pumps but not semis. Ah I think I understand now...I have seen these +1 round extensions, so I assumed you can go more than 5 on an SA. But I guess that with the +1 extension that allows you to have 5 x 3" shells, but it so happens that now you get 6 x 2.75" shells.

Can't you get like 8-9 rounds in some between a mag that holds 5.9 rounds 3.5" shells, plus ghost loading one and/or one in the chamber?

You can't go more than the 5 round limit of the largest shell the gun is made for is what the law is, so there is a bit of leeway with shorter shells.

The 1301 has a 3" chamber. So, as thegazzelle says, the most the tube can hold is 5 rounds of 3" shells...which probably equates to 6, 2.75" shells. 6+1 if chambered. Ghost loading would be 6+2 and if you want to risk shooting your own foot off, or jamming the gun when you'd need it to work, you could load it that way I suppose? Or, if it's mag capacity you're looking for, just get a pump. It's really not that much slower.

I have no idea whether Aguila minishells or Federal Shortys will work in this - I know for my old 590 Shockwave, I needed an Opsol rubber adapter on the ramp. I think the newer 590s runs both, but not sure if the 1301 will cycle shortys properly. Wish I had them still.

Now the wait begins to see what comes first - the 1301 in the mail this morning or the 11am news conference.

the Updated handguard was one of the biggest attractions for me. Extremely disappointing we cant even get that.
I actually prefer the hand hanguard we got. I have no need for mlock mounting on that shotgun.

And you could order one. Several sponsors had them

I HIGHLY doubt those mini shells would cycle a semi.

Hmm, maybe a lil bit quicker...

It will not.

I tried short shells in a semi and they didn't feed well at all.

It was a good while ago but I kinda remember that the gun didnt cycle properly with them either.

If it is a 3.5" gun then it can physically / legally hold 9 rounds of 2 3/4". 7 in mag / 1 on lifer / 1 in the chamber.

The big question is if Mr RCMP is well enough versed in the nuances of the legalities of this to not lay charges should this peak his interest.
