Beretta 1301 Tactical

I find they shoot the same when you compared the Berretta and the Benelli M4, the only thing I find slightly different is the Benelli is running cleaner as far as the recoil they are comparable if not the same. Both are a dream to shoot, if it weren't out of stock i would have purchased the berretta instead of my versa max to match the Benelli M4. For me the only thing i would change on it is maybe swap the stock to a adjustable pistol or a thumbhole stock

Anyone here running a 24" 1301 Comp with a Nordic mag extension? What size extension did you go with?

only need a plus 1 mag ext. if you dont want to plug, has the same thread as the Nova/ Supernova mag ext. from the factory its 4 for 3",

If you want 6x2 3/4 you will still need an ext. I ended up putting on a SJ +1. It gave me the 6x2 3/4 but still a couldn't fit a sixth 3" in it. BTW, ghost loading is a PIA but very doable.

Yeah, I watched a video on ghost loading the 1301. Looks like a bit of a pain in the arse to do but should become easier with practice. No 3gun in my near future just yet. Just gathering all the toys first and then to find a BB course in my neck of the woods.

Well, look what came in the mail today. Damn, this is nice and lightweight. :)

I had to hit Youtube to find out how to remove the mag limiter plug and flip the safety around for a lefty. I ordered a Nordic mag tube extension from TacOrd. I felt like the stock was a little on the shorter side so I intstalled the shorter of the two spacers to the buttstock.

I guess they saved a lot of weight by using a very lightweight stock. The stock sounds awfully hollow. Anyone foam filled their stocks or just left it as is? Knock on wood, my thumb hasn't gotten caught by the lifter.

Damn, I'm itching to try this baby out.

Trinimon nice you will be pleased. there is a bead half way up the barrel if you want to keep it "loktite it down" or put it in a safe place numerous people have lost it while stringing shots together, it is only threaded finger tight.
Roberto Vezzoli did a series of videos he is sponsored by Beretta (10 in total)

all the best
Trevor

Thanks Trevor. I watched Roberto's vids. They're good watching for sure. Thanks for the tip on that middle bead. I'll locktite that sucker down. :)

I did the Vezzoli mod to the lifter on mine. I highly recommend this mod, it'll save some thumb.

I just left the stock the way it came, no filler. The checkering is super aggressive though, I might sand it down a bit on the grip.

So far I've tried load-two and single load and I haven't caught my thumb as yet. I'll play with it some more today and try and get my thumb caught. I've got long slimish fingers/thumb so not sure if that helps not getting snagged. I've contacted TacOrd about filling in the lifter and they said they're not taking anymore jobs until around fall. Those guys are swamped. The other option I've read is to send it to C-RUMS to get it welded. We'll see.

Doing some more detailed reading, I found out that the rifle stock is setup for right handed shooters. Not sure if the center core piece of plastic comes out of the stock but trying to get the shim out of there took me the better part of surfing Google and youtube. Eventually I managed to pop the shim out and flip it around to SX.

Oh, thanks again Trevor, that middle bead was screwed in ever so lightly, I unscrewed it without any effort. I could see it rattling loose on its own eventually. It's locktited in there now. :)

Here's a pic of the lifter mod I did, free and took 15 minutes with a dremel. Gun still functions 100%.

Thanks for posting that. I saw you mention it in an earlier post and might be a cheaper alternative. I did some practice reloading and I did manage to catch my thumb a couple times if I push the rounds in too steeply. Sometimes the top of the loading port catches the second round if I load 2x2.

I have a Comp and a Benelli Super Sport (I think the same action) and to me they are same-same. My girl, however, prefers the Comp so maybe that means something.

Good to know and reassuring. :)

Do you guys run with a Matchsaverz mounted on your handguard?

I bought a Matchsaver from TacOrd but haven't installed it yet. I'm not sure where the best place to drill the hole is for mounting or I would have done it already. Maybe I'll email Casey and ask if he has done one in the past on the 1301.

I have one from a while back that's been sitting in my parts bin and was thinking of finally using it. I'll take a look and see where the best point would be for drilling the hole so the backing nut doesn't make contact with the barrel or mag tube.

I was trying to find out how to remove the inner butt stock assembly for swapping out the shim plates 'cause it was a pain the arse trying to get it out and I only found out last night by accident that that rubber plug in the butt stock is actually covering a QD swivel mount. To remove the inner stock assembly, you need remove that QD adapter using a #40 torx driver. Couldn't find this info anywhere over two days of Google searching.

Man, that Beretta manual sucks and you can't find a detailed exploded diagram with a parts listing for the 1301 to see what the part number is for the shell lifter. I suspected it used the same A400 lifter but could not find confirmation anywhere until I read about 40 pages on the Brianenos forum.
