Beretta 1301 Tactical

I have one from a while back that's been sitting in my parts bin and was thinking of finally using it. I'll take a look and see where the best point would be for drilling the hole so the backing nut doesn't make contact with the barrel or mag tube.

I was trying to find out how to remove the inner butt stock assembly for swapping out the shim plates 'cause it was a pain the arse trying to get it out and I only found out last night by accident that that rubber plug in the butt stock is actually covering a QD swivel mount. To remove the inner stock assembly, you need remove that QD adapter using a #40 torx driver. Couldn't find this info anywhere over two days of Google searching.

Man, that Beretta manual sucks and you can't find a detailed exploded diagram with a parts listing for the 1301 to see what the part number is for the shell lifter. I suspected it used the same A400 lifter but could not find confirmation anywhere until I read about 40 pages on the Brianenos forum.

Yes, I believe the A400 is the same lifter. Brownell's has a great schematic that breaks down all the parts of the 1301 Comp. Just go to the "Schematics" section of their website.

Thanks for the tip about removing the swivel mount. Why are you changing the shim?

Out of the box, it's setup for cast-off for right handed shooters. I had to flip the plate from DX to SX for a lefty. I may also drop the stock to 65mm cause when I shoulder the shotgun, I'm seeing a bit more rail when lining up the beads.

Hmm, didn't know about the Schematics part. Thanks for that.

Yeah, someone on another forum confirmed the A400 lifter is the same for the 1301.

I had a look at installing the Matchsaverz on my 1301. Humm, there's not much free space on the handguard where you can drill a hole and not have the backing nut make contact with the barrel or mag tube. The gap between the barrel and mag tube on the stock has a high plastic ridge. You could possibly use a Dremel with a sanding drum to create a flatspot on the ridge and drill that spot there. I didn't have time today to muck around with it as I was busy making a plug for my mag tube extension. :p
