Beretta 686E Sporting Info Requested

I think you will find with a little more research that the majority of Olympic shooters shoot Perazzi's.

Likely true for "Team USA", and what we get to read over here, but not neccessarily so for the rest of the world.

The Beretta/Perazzi thing has been going on since at least 1968.
They are both good manufacturers, and easily, are the two most
popular makes for the International competitor, outdistancing the
competition by several fold. Each has their "Champions" and fans.
Some choose one over the other, and some are given one or the other
to use based on their country of origin or the strength of their individual
competition portfolio. Some are also there on "their own hook" with the
gun of their choice.

682 S was a skeet gun, My cousin had one, no chokes, dedicated skeet barrells.
Usually difference between sporting and trap is barrell length, trap usually a little longer.
I have only found 1 Beretta that ever fit me the 686, most others I can't get my face down far enough to see properly.
I've shot Browning instead.

That is true trap guns sometimes have longer barrels. I have seen some sporting clay o/u's with barrels as long as 34" Trap guns are designed to shoot high. Because you are shooting at a rising target. Trap guns also have to be choked tighter than sporting clay guns. Trap can also be shot with a single shot gun. Unless of course you are shooting doubles.

I have always found the Krieghoffs fit me better then Beretta or Perrazi, so I have a K-80Combo and have been shooting it for years without problems, still fits me best.

The 68x guns all have the same mechanical system inside. I challenge anybody to tell me the 687 and 682 have a superior mechanical inside than a 686. The differences are based on the differences in quality of lipstick that are put on these pigs.
P.S. mighty fine pigs though. I own one

Agree 100% on this, once I had my 686 apart a 682 was no surprise for me. It's all in the finishing and the upgrades/scrollwork/wood/etc.

All I can tell you is never for a single day did I regret buying my 686 Silver Pigeon II, and I put over 50,000 rounds through it during 5 years with the National Team shooting International Trap.

I noticed on the last Beretta Shotgun that I bought in October, that the shipping box had -Distributed by Berreta U.S.A. Corp.17601 Berreta Dr. Accokeek, MD 26607-USA. That shows us that Stoeger does not deal with Berreta Italy directly. I think that Stoeger is even worse than the RUKO corp. who used to distibute the product. The Canadian consumer demands more than Stoeger can provide. It is time to e-mail Beretta in Italy. Stoeger must no longer have a choke hold on the Canadian Consumer.

I thought that Stoeger Canada and Beretta USA are both subs of Beretta Italy?

Other than not getting your ### shooting vest, what problem have you had with Stoeger Canada? Other than one incident over a warranty repair of a Tikka that I had bought several years ago, I have had nothing but excellent service from them.

Stoeger as well as Beretta USA are both wholly owned by Beretta. Since Nick Manoudakis became the National Sales Manager, the quality of products offered and stocked as well as the warranty and non warranty service, has been exceptional!

The reason that most Beretta clothing is not offered in Canada is due to duties. Most of the clothing now is manufactured in China. Stoeger has to order a minimum of a 1000 of each size for it to be shipped directly to Canada. There is no such market here for those quantaties. So, Stoeger orders some clothing through Beretta USA. They then pay double duty as Beretta USA paid duty for importing from China and Stoeger pays again for purchasing a Chinese manufactured product. Even in Europe, the shooting vests now come from China. I bought my new one there this summer. There are very few clothing items still made in Italy.

On another sad note, PHS who has handled Le Chameau in Canada has lost theline after 22 years. PHS has outsold the Le Chameau reps in the US for many years. Le Chameau figures it can do better with their own reps and charge what they want which is a lot more! PHS has everything on sale right now:

Thanks for the most informative posting. I knew there had to be a more logical reason . Yesterday, I phoned a sporting goods store in Vancouver that sells a lot of Beretta. I don't think the retail clerk knew what he was talking about when he gave Stoeger a rough time. I have never had any problems with them either.
Also, It is indeed sad for what is happening at Le Chameau. I don't think anyone can come close in quality to their sportsman's and stable boots.

By and large I've been lucky in dealing with these problems. Part of it is just dealing with the right products or suppliers, of course. I have never had problems with warranty work, or any other kind of work, with Leupold scopes, for example. It may be that I have never worked in retail, but I don't understand long wait times when ordering a part or some product. When someone tells me that it will take a week to get the order into the mail when I'm dealing with a mail order house, I don't usually say anything, but I always have that small niggle inside that makes me wonder what is taking them so long. I feel like saying..."Jeez, this is your life blood! What takes you a week to get something in the mail?!!!" Maybe people are just so beaten down in the place that they don't go that extra step for their employer, or maybe the organization is so bad it doesn't work efficiently, or maybe the job sucks so bad one just can't be bothered anymore...etc. etc... I recall going with my dad many years ago to get some welding rod from Mac&Mac in Vancouver and the clerk asked dad to come back in 15 minutes, because he was out of stock of this particular rod. We went for coffee and came back and there was the rod. Dad told me afterward that the clerk had gone to a competitor and got enough rod to fill his order. Things have changed, though I don't particularly cry the blues for the good old days. They weren't that good for one thing, and most new things are better. But in some of the examples given it is clear that someone somewhere isn't acting with initiative and/or pride, and that the name of the game has become turning over goods while avoiding doing anything else. I go into my shop and one part of the change stairs me in the face every day. The flood of inexpensive off-shore tools began a few years back and my band saw was made in Taiwan. It isn't a bad product, though not top of the line. But the point is, that I went for the $300 saving. We get the same thing in shooting all the time imho and sometimes I'm just as guilty as anyone else on that score.

I picked up an Italian-made Beretta Shooting Coat at Gagnon's in Oshawa & a "Gold" vest while at Cole's, in South Harpswell, Maine, ( on a trip 3 or 4 years ago) and have seen them since at various other spots in the States, dating back to the Grand while it was still in Vandalia. Never seen a Beretta vest (or any other outerwear for that matter) in a size bigger than XXL or 50-52, pants 30-46".

Seems not too many "Bubba" super-sized boys don't live in Italy !

:( My Italian Beretta vest is very tired so, when I was in Europe for the Euro in Austria, I bought a new Beretta vest, Made in China! No more shooting vests of any type that are made in Italy. BTW, the biggest size they had was my XL!:p Some of the other clothing is made in Rumania. The sweaters and some of the hunting stuff still sports the "Made in Italy"!

This collection is all "Made in Italy"! Unfortunately, you have to go to Europe and visit one of the Gallerias or someof the better gun shops in Italy. One of the best shops is in Laterina both in the little town and at the range. I saw So5 and 6s waiting for owners with blank stocks. You don't buy a premium gun off the shelf there! Each stock is fitted! BTW, the Laterina range had every Italian shotshell manufacturer avaiable in multiple loadings! Scores for trap and skeet are posted live in the clubhouse and can be viewed live as well. The FITASC Sporting scores are posted within an hour of finishing a Parcour! The food is excellent both in the snack bar or restaurant, and very reasonable. Also good wines and beer are always available at nearly all times.

Best regards,
Henry;)
