Beretta 92 upgrades and where to buy them?

I'm sure there are a pack of you that have upgraded your Berettas. I had one years ago that I tuned up then sold... dummy.

I just traded my P226 for an interesting two tone 92fs (let's not get into which platform is better, that debate is tired and early comes down to personal preference). It may just be a mix and match by bubba or a factory made gun, I dunno. I am hoping to buy a new hammer, short trigger and G conversion parts for it. Where do you guys buy your goodies from?

Here is a couple pics of the firearm in case anyone has any insight on it. The frame is an Italian inox and the slide is American made.... weird, I know.

You can get a lot of stuff from Stoeger canada now, Brownells has some stuff too, Wolff has springs but they have suspended international shipping since this whole covid crap.

Stoeger has the G kits and the 92x trigger kits with the skeleton hammer and short reset trigger bar but if you get one toss the 92x trigger and get the adjustable trigger from them, its identical to the Wilson short reach trigger but has screws to adjust pre and over travel, also Cyl & Slide makes a nice sear but its pricy for what you will actually gain.

The Wolff 13lb or Wilson 12lb spring makes a big difference but you will need to use federal primers, if your using factory ammo stick to the D spring that comes with the 92x trigger kit.

FYI if you get the adjustable trigger the top screw for pre travel is too long and needs to be filed down as it will hit the trigger pin before it screws in far enough, before installing the trigger put the pin thru the trigger and file the screw enough to be almost flush when it bottoms out on the pin, you will then be able to adjust the screw without having to remove the trigger multiple times, and dont forget to loctite the 2 adjustment screws.

A ‘D’ spring is all you need to lighten the trigger a bit. That’s it, that’s all. I’ll even send you a D spring for free. PM me if you want one. Everything is just fine the way it is. Why you want to change anything? Something not working right for you? Buy more mags and ammo instead and learn to shoot it accurately.

Thank you so so much for the info my friend! I will definitely be playing around upgrading this pistol... I want it to be refined a bit... she is such a good looking piece.

Will the springs and other parts fit the Taurus? I have a PT 917 CS, where can I order a spring kit for it? Cheers Bob
 
Don’t know much about the PT 017 CS, but I’ve replaced parts in the PT92.
Most springs are interchangeable. At least I’m sure the hammer spring, recoil spring and trigger spring are.
So is the barrel & locking block, believe it or not, the guiderod, slide stop and hammer spring plug for sure and a few other parts I haven’t tried and not sure of.
Beretta magazines have a smaller size mag catch notch, but can be adapted with a bit of filing. I wouldn’t as you can buy Mecgar mags for Taurus for a lot less.

Thanks guys, I have 4 of the mecgar mags. It makes sense that most parts match up as it was a Beretta Factory at the beginning. Cheers.
 
I pick up all my parts in the USA. I have an address there and go down at least twice a year. (4-5 times pre pandemic) I just drop ship to Orlando and then fly back with the parts.
UNLESS it's something restricted to export or import. Then it gets to be a pain. Was down over Christmas and brought back a couple minor things including a steel guide rod for my 92FS, but had to use an exporter to ship the .22LR conversion kit and a bunch of mags for same. Still sitting at Customs in Vancouver. :(
btw saw your WTB thin grips. I went with Wilson Combat ultra thin because my hands are smaller than Trumps.

Hmm, Wilson Combat grips, I believe I will look into those, I also need grips thinner than Twiggy on a hunger strike to get the proper hold!

They are some handsome grips as well.
 
Don’t the screws stick up a bit on the WC grips? If you remove the washers to make them sit flush, the screws protrude into the mag well and might interfere with the magazine. You may need to file them down. Expensive too.
I use the Hogue rubber panel grips and no washers. They’re not much thinner per say, but flatter than the plastic humped beretta. The issues I had was siding around in my hand and the rubber allowed me to have a better purchase on the gun out of the holster and better control.
Langdon Tactical also sell ultra thin panels. Both the WC and Langdon panels are made by VZ Grips. I think there used to be another company that made thin grips, LOK Grips I think, not sure if they’re still around though.

I'll check that out. The grip of the stock panels fit my hand pretty well. I do like the way the beretta fills my hand... just feel like a thinner panel will be a bit better, especially for mag releases

Thanks to your advice, I got the 92X trigger kit and the adjustable trigger.

Instead of filing down the pre-travel/top screw, I simply removed it since to me the DA pull is less important than SA.
