Beretta Storm 9mm vs .40 cal

rebarrel

If anyone rebarrels their .40 storm I will buy the original restricted barrel for 250. Split the shipping.

.40 only, don't need a 9mm barrel.

Gas Can.

I tried a 92 9mm mag in my CX4 storm .40 and it will feed but does tend to jam. With the proper mags I have no problem.

For my Beretta 92FS, I went out and bought a 96 mag, because I had also heard about compatibility. Other than the lips being slightly more open (fixed with a pair of pliers), they work fine. I was able to fit 13 rounds of 9mm into the 96 mag, and it was completely flush with my pistol, same as a 92 mag. If the 92 mags work in a Storm, I can't see why the same wouldn't apply.

is it possible to get a storm thats non restricted from the factory? it is my understanding that once a firearm is restricted no modifications to it can make it unrestricted.

perhaps i am mistaken

Not true. If a firearm is either named as restricted in the firearms act (i.e. AR-15 platform), or if the firearm is classed on its registration certificate as a handgun, then it will always be restricted, no matter what. However, if it is a rifle that is restricted only due to barrel length, then a re-barrelling to 18.5 inches or greater will change the classification to non restricted.

There's actually quite a few people on the forums who have had this done to their CX4s.

I love my .40cal Storm with a NR barrel, I regularly plink to 200m with it. I got a NC-Star scope with a BDC on it and set to 500m the holdover at 200m is not bad at all. I shoot 175gr cast SWC with 4.0grs of titegroup. The most accurate bullet I find is the 135gr Nosler JHP with I think 5.6grs titegroup. going by Ballistics by the Inch website the 135gr out of the 18.5 barrel is matching 135gr 44mag out of a 5" barrel.

Well, my Storm is in .45 caliber and it`s accuracy is spooky....No recoil to speak of, it`s just too bad that the only mags you can get are 8rds...But after 4 years of ownership, I have not had a problem with it....
