Berger VLD Bullets on deer

Proved two things to my satisfaction. They're the same thing, and getting pictures of sectioned bullets is harder than it looks.

The boxes I saw at WSS today were labeled "recommended for hunting" on the orange box, and the yellow box had "thick" on the label. I am guessing these are the thicker jacketed target vlds

I just read a post on another site stating that the jackets are something like 0.005" thicker along the bearing surface of the bullet. Not really sure what that will do to bullet performance on game. Out of curiosity how thick is the standard jacket on a VLD?

It would be interesting to know if the 14.2% difference in wall thickness (if it exists??) and a 1.6% difference as compared to a 308 diameter bullet will make much if any difference. When you look at the cross section of a accubond or the heavier ballistic tips the case wall more than doubles as it gets thicker towards the base of the bullet. So I wonder what difference 0.005 will make?

Is it possible that you have a box of the old target bullets instead of the new thicker bullets?
