Best 1-6 or 1-8 scope for .22 around $500

Nobody I know puts a LPVO on a rimfire. I recommend a lot of reading and watching of youtube videos.

PA illuminated 1x6 with the .22LR reticle.

As i have mentioned, im in a process of getting a 5.56 caliber rifle, rimfire placement is temporary.

Do you have a picatinny rail on your rimfire? Most 2 piece rails on rimfire are Weaver.

Why not buy both, look for a LPVO used and buy a scope for your rimfire, something like 2-7x32 and leave it?

Bushnell Elite 6500 Series are bullet proof, great glass and will hold zero regardless of the beating you give it. I own 3, a 2.5-16x50mm Mil-Dot on a 280 Rem, a 1.25-8x32mm on my 378 Wby and thank god it has over 4" of eye relief. The last one is another 1.25-8x32mm that's lurking around waiting to pounce. This series of 6500's are all 30mm tubes and have some nice heft to them which explains how strong/tough they are.

Dang I forgot the Elite 6500 4.5-30x50mm I have mounted on a lefty Tikka Varmint SS/synthetic 22-250 Rem. So I actually own 4!

Thanks for posting that Geo, I didn't realize PA had a variable magnification optic with a .22lr reticle, their fixed 6x was the only option for a while.

It's good. Out of my 12" Dlask barrel the reticle is bang on zeroed at 50 yards with 40 gr Minimag RN and bang on at 100 yards with the 100 yard Hatch.

And at 1x it's almost like a red dot.

This is a great point actually, just waiting for my EE access. buying 2 brand new scopes is a little pricy right now

So im down to either:

Athlon ARGOS BTR GEN2 1-8x24 ATSR5 SFP IR MOA
Burris RT-6 1-6x24mm
or
Primary Arms, SLx 1-6X24 FFP Rifle Scope, ACSS Raptor Illuminated Reticle, MOA

Any opinions from the people who actually have one of these. Pros/cons. I should be able to physically look at burris or PA scope, but don't think there is an Athlon dealer close to where Im(Markham) . I did a lot of research , youtube etc, lots of people say very good things about all three brands. Athlon was mentioned as having one of the clearest glasses for this price point. Burris is very well knows in 3gun and just as a great budget lpvo. Same with PA products

Anybody tried the STYRKA S7 SERIES SIDE FOCUS RIFLESCOPE 1-6X24 ?
- Parallax adjustable from 10 yds to infinity

Yes, made by Celestron but now discontinued. I saw it at the 2022 Toronto Sportsman Show, there was a vendor selling new old-stock. Looked like a great scope, and might be worth the gamble of buying a discontinued product.

Cheers

Just found out about "supposedly" a new king in this category

What do you guys think?

I emailed PA Canada asking when its gonna be in stock , didn't get reply yet

I usually find the black reticle fine during bright light but many people seem to want super day light brightness which this reticle is aimed at providing. I do like that they are offering a center dot and think that PA should offer more dot options to compliment their signature use of their angled arrow point style reticle.

Vector Optics is a bit of a gamble but they have some decent looking choices for a good price.... I just ordered an RMR red dot from them to test out.

Just an update, i ended up buying the PA SLx 1-6x24mm SFP Rifle Scope Gen IV - Illuminated ACSS Aurora 5.56-Yard Reticle. Really love it. Love the glass and reticle, illumination is great. Now need to get a real rifle to put in on :)
Thanks to everyone for all the help and input, comments and suggestions.
